The hydrogen-oxygen reaction over the Pt(111) surface: Transient titration of adsorbed oxygen with hydrogen

Journal of Catalysis, 1982
Abstract The kinetics of the hydrogen-oxygen reaction have been characterized on a Pt(111) surface over the 300–450 K temperature range by titration of adsorbed atomic oxygen with hydrogen in the 1.3 × 10 −6 to 1.3 × 10 −7 Pa (10 −8 to 10 −9 Torr) pressure range.

The nature of adsorbed oxygen on rhodium, palladium and gold electrodes

Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry and Interfacial Electrochemistry, 1971
Summary Oxygen coverage has been determined on rhodium, palladium and gold anodes as a function of potential and time. The oxygen-containing film consists of chemisorbed oxygen atoms, but phase oxide can nucleate and grow under severe conditions of anodization.

The reaction of H2S with adsorbed oxygen atoms on platinum (111)

Surface Science, 1988
Abstract The reaction of H 2 S(g) and adsorbed atomic oxygen on Pt(111) has been studied by SIMS, HREELS, and TPD. H 2 S(g) reacts completely at 96 K with 0.22 ML O(a) to give H 2 O(a) and S(a). The reaction rate shows no measureable temperature dependence between 96 and 135 K and, under the conditions of this study, was equal to the flux of H 2 S ...

The reactivity and auger chemical shift of oxygen adsorbed on platinum

Surface Science, 1977
The reaction of carbon monoxide with oxygen chemisorbcd on polycrystalline platinum has been studied using Auger spectroscopy. Two types of chemisorbed oxygen are distinguished on the basis of Auger electron chemical shifts and reactivity towards carbon monoxide.

The effect of adsorbed oxygen on the surface energy of B.C.C. iron

Acta Metallurgica, 1968
Abstract The surface energy of pure δ phase iron was measured at 1410°C as a function of the oxygen content of the ambient atmosphere, by a zero-creep technique. The surface energy was found to be very sensitive to adsorbed oxygen, and it falls 100 ergs cm −2 for every ten-fold increase in oxygen pressure at 1410°C.

The phase transition in a molecular oxygen layer adsorbed on graphite

Solid State Communications, 1988
Abstract Landau's theory has been applied to the calculation of the symmetry change at the phase transition in O2 layer on graphite which supplements the earlier investigation of Domany and Riedel [4] in which the phase diagram for that transition has been determined.
