Rapid loss of Arctic sea ice [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Several environmental tipping points and self-reinforcing feedback loops are still disregarded within the frequently used climate models. Thus, existing climate models are not very representative for providing projections of the conditions after the actual environmental tipping points are triggered.

Peripheral blood leukocyte signatures as biomarkers in relapsed ovarian cancer patients receiving combined anti‐CD73/anti‐PD‐L1 immunotherapy in arm A of the NSGO‐OV‐UMB1/ENGOT‐OV30 trial

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using mass cytometry, we analyzed serial blood samples from patients with relapsed epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) treated with oleclumab–durvalumab combination immunotherapy in the NSGO‐OV‐UMB1/ENGOT‐OV30 trial. Our analysis identified potential predictive, monitoring, and response biomarkers detectable through liquid biopsy. These findings facilitate

A large-scale multivariate soccer athlete health, performance, and position monitoring dataset

open access: yesScientific Data
Data analysis for athletic performance optimization and injury prevention is of tremendous interest to sports teams and the scientific community. However, sports data are often sparse and hard to obtain due to legal restrictions, unwillingness to share ...

The impact of specialised content courses on student teaching in a Norwegian teacher education programme

open access: yesEducation Inquiry, 2021
In recent decades, most Nordic countries have seen reforms in their teacher education programme, giving rise to an ongoing debate on these programmes’ content, structure, and quality.

Interaction webs in arctic ecosystems: Determinants of arctic change? [PDF]

open access: yesAmbio, 2017
How species interact modulate their dynamics, their response to environmental change, and ultimately the functioning and stability of entire communities. Work conducted at Zackenberg, Northeast Greenland, has changed our view on how networks of arctic biotic interactions are structured, how they vary in time, and how they are changing with current ...

Stochastic variation in the FOXM1 transcription program mediates replication stress tolerance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cellular heterogeneity is a major cause of drug resistance in cancer. Segeren et al. used single‐cell transcriptomics to investigate gene expression events that correlate with sensitivity to the DNA‐damaging drugs gemcitabine and prexasertib. They show that dampened expression of transcription factor FOXM1 and its target genes protected cells against ...

A Benchmark Model for Fixed-Target Arctic Sea Ice Forecasting [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
We propose a reduced-form benchmark predictive model (BPM) for fixed-target forecasting of Arctic sea ice extent, and we provide a case study of its real-time performance for target date September 2020. We visually detail the evolution of the statistically-optimal point, interval, and density forecasts as time passes, new information arrives, and the ...

Transcriptome‐wide analysis of circRNA and RBP profiles and their molecular relevance for GBM

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircRNAs are differentially expressed in glioblastoma primary tumors and might serve as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. The investigation of circRNA and RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) interactions shows that distinct RBPs play a role in circRNA biogenesis and function.

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Optimal Combination of Arctic Sea Ice Extent Measures: A Dynamic Factor Modeling Approach [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The diminishing extent of Arctic sea ice is a key indicator of climate change as well as an accelerant for future global warming. Since 1978, Arctic sea ice has been measured using satellite-based microwave sensing; however, different measures of Arctic sea ice extent have been made available based on differing algorithmic transformations of the raw ...
