Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Adapting to a new role: a study designed to help senior managers adapt to new positions after organisation restructuring [PDF]
The work on which this thesis is based, studies the implementation phase of the total organisation restructure of the National Health Service in 1974 as experienced by a large group of Senior Pharmaceutical Managers who found it difficult to establish ...

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

The Effects of Narcissism and Perspective-taking on Managers’ Escalation of Commitment [PDF]
Companies often have the opportunity to invest in capital assets. Unfortunately, the benefits of such investments are not always realized and managers are challenged with deciding whether they should withdraw their support for a failing endeavour. Termed

Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Hybrid Clinician-Managers: Exploration of opportunities and challenges in a hospital setting
Background: Effective leadership and management are required for quality health services in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). As in higher income countries (HICs), clinicians in LMICs often transition from a purely clinical to a hybrid role with ...

An Exploratory Study Of Expectation–Importance–Performance Analysis With Cultural Tourists In Havana, Cuba [PDF]
Importance–Performance Analysis (IPA) is an efficient method for measuring two dimensions of a person’s attitude on a given topic. The current study added a third dimension, Expectation, to determine if an individual’s expectation about a cultural ...

Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
