Product-process interface for effective product design and manufacturing in a DFM approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This research work is partly supported by SNECMA enterprise. It makes part of the MAIA 8 projectIn order to tackle a continuous improvement of virtual engineering, product modelling has to integrate always more knowledge that refer to every decision ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Denotation and connotation in the human-computer interface: The ‘Save as...’ command [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This paper presents a semiotic technique as a means of exploring meaning and understanding in interface design and use. This is examined through a study of the interaction between the ‘file’ metaphor and ‘save as’ command metaphor.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

High Rate Performance of LiM0.1Mn1.9O4 (M=Mn, Al, Fe) as Cathodes of Lithium Ion Battery at 25°C and 55°C

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2012
LiM0.1Mn1.9O4 (M=Mn, Al, Fe) compounds were synthesized via a sol-gel process. The XRD pattern indicates that the samples could be indexed as a spinel structure without any impurities.

Calculation of the Intrinsic Solvation Free Energy Profile of an Ionic Penetrant Across a Liquid–Liquid Interface with Computer Simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We introduce the novel concept of an intrinsic free energy profile, allowing one to remove the artificial smearing caused by thermal capillary waves, which renders difficulties for the calculation of free energy profiles across fluid interfaces in ...

Erythropoietin modulates hepatic inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and soluble epoxide hydrolase and epoxides in high‐fat diet‐induced obese mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.
