Recognition of glycine versus non‐glycine citrulline motifs dictates the HLA class II association of anti‐citrullinated protein antibodies ‐ insights from autoantibody profiling of 6900 Scandinavian rheumatoid arthritis patients

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Objectives Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) associated anti‐citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPA) target various antigens by binding short citrulline‐amino acid motifs, resulting in heterogeneous ACPA‐profiles among patients. Here we analyzed ACPA‐patterns by recognized citrulline‐motifs in relation to the RA risk factors HLA‐DRB1 shared epitope (SE ...

The Moon's Course [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1898
THE annual course which the moon takes in company with the earth round the sun was to me a long time a great puzzle, as it is to many others, until one day I demonstrated it to myself by the simplest method. Those who have some smattering of the heavenly bodies generally fail in their attempt to draw the moon's orbit; they find no explanation in ...

Polar orbits around the newly formed Earth-Moon binary system [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We examine the dynamics and stability of circumbinary particles orbiting around the Earth-Moon binary system. The moon formed close to the Earth (semi-major axis $a_{EM}\approx 3\, R_\oplus$) and expanded through tides to its current day semi-major axis ($a_{ EM}= 60\, R_\oplus$).

Clinical factors associated with pneumocystis pneumonia despite its primary prophylaxis: When to stop prophylaxis?

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Objective Although previous studies show that primary prophylaxis against Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PJP) is effective in patients with rheumatic diseases receiving immunosuppressive treatment, there is limited evidence regarding the optimal timing for prophylaxis withdrawal.

Origin of the lunar inclination from tidal interaction of multiple-moon system [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
According to the giant impact theory, the Moon formed through accreting the debris disk produced by Theia colliding with the early Earth and the predicted lunar inclination is about within one degree when Moon formed. However, the current lunar orbital inclination with five degrees requires the Moon's orbital inclination relative to the Earth's equator

What does it mean? Translating anatomical language to engage public audiences

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract The language of anatomy, with its roots in Ancient Greek and Roman languages, is complex and unfamiliar to many. Its complexity creates a significant barrier to public knowledge and understanding of anatomy—many members of the public find themselves asking “what does it mean?”, and this can manifest as poor health literacy and outcomes.
