Data Selection for Support Vector Machine Classifiers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The problem of extracting a minimal number of data points from a large dataset, in order to generate a support vector machine (SVM) classi er, is formulated as a concave minimization problem and solved by a nite number of linear programs.

Comparison of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Energy Absorbers Under Uniaxial Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates LCD 3D printed Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) structures as mechanical energy absorbers. By comparing various base designs and layered combinations under uniaxial compression, it identifies that a Diamond‐Gyroid sandwich structure offers superior performance.

Design of thermal wind sensor with constant power control and wind vector measurement method.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
This paper presents a conceptual wind vector detector for measuring the velocity and direction of wind in enclosed or semi-enclosed large spaces. Firstly, a thermal wind sensor with constant power control was manufactured and then used as a wind velocity

Investigating the Effect of Inclination Angle and the Influence of Scan Parameters on the Appearance and Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Filigree Tension Rods of LPBF‐Manufactured NiTi Shape‐Memory Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article investigates the dependence of the properties on the manufacturing orientation in the form of the inclination angle to the build plate of LPBF‐fabricated NiTi rods with a diameter of 150–220 µm. Metallographic, chemical, thermal, and mechanical characterization show behavior under identical manufacturing conditions that ranges from ...

Controlling Grain Growth in Powder Bed Fusion of Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia Using Femtosecond Lasers: Challenges and Methodological Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Binder‐free laser powder bed fusion of 8YSZ with a femtosecond laser is used to map process windows linking scan strategy, heat accumulation, and grain growth. Time‐resolved thermography and simulations reveal thermal regimes that enable continuous, vitrified, and fine‐grained 8YSZ surface layers without absorptive additives and demonstrate ...

Optimum Velocity Vector of Articulated Robot for Soft Bumping

open access: yesJournal of Robotics and Mechatronics, 1990
Controlling manipulators during the transition from the free space to the constraint space is important to avoid vibration or crashing of a grasped object in assembly tasks. This paper discusses smoothing the contact of an articulated manipulator with the object in the transition from the free space to the constraint space.

Influence of TiC and TiN Ceramic Reinforcements on the Microstructure, Thermal Expansion Behavior, and Tensile Properties of Invar 36 Manufactured by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines Invar composites reinforced with titanium carbide (TiC) and titanium nitride (TiN) using laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). It presents the influence of reinforcements on microstructure, tensile properties, and thermal expansion. Results show that TiC effectively strengthens Invar while maintaining low thermal expansion, whereas TiN ...
