The Cosmological Mass Function with 1D Gravity

open access: yes, 1999
The cosmological mass function problem is analyzed in full detail in the case of 1D gravity, with analytical, semi-analytical and numerical techniques. The extended Press & Schechter theory is improved by detailing the relation between smoothing radius ...

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Hydrodynamic Waves in Regions with Smooth Loss of Convexity of Isentropes. General Phenomenological Theory

open access: yes, 2001
General phenomenological theory of hydrodynamic waves in regions with smooth loss of convexity of isentropes is developed based on the fact that for most media these regions in p-V plane are anomalously small.

The Shapes of Dirichlet Defects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
If the vacuum manifold of a field theory has the appropriate topological structure, the theory admits topological structures analogous to the D-branes of string theory, in which defects of one dimension terminate on other defects of higher dimension. The

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Analysis of the Determinants of Pelni Mobile Adoption Failure in Manokwari: A Hybrid Diffusion of Innovation and Theory of Planned Behaviour Approach

open access: yesJournal of Applied Informatics and Computing
The adoption of digital services like Pelni Mobile in developing regions faces complex challenges. Despite offering ease of access, its adoption rate in Manokwari Regency remains low.

Interregional relationships in the Russian dairy market: Spatial growth poles

open access: yesJournal of New Economy, 2021
Significant differentiation between Russian regions in the production and consumption of milk and dairy products hampers the food security. The paper investigates interregional relationships in the indicated processes.

Spontaneous symmetry breaking in a two-doublet lattice Higgs model

open access: yes, 2010
An SU(2) lattice gauge theory with two doublets of complex scalar fields is considered. All continuous symmetries are identified and, using the nonperturbative methods of lattice field theory, the phase diagram is mapped out by direct numerical ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

A GRAPH THEORY INTERPRETATION OF NODAL REGIONS [PDF]

open access: yesPapers in Regional Science, 1961
THE PURPOSE OF THIS PAPER is to describe a procedure for ordering and grouping cities by the magnitude and direction of the flows of goods, people, and communications between them. Current theories of nodal regions and central place hierarchies provide the bases for the recognition of region-wide organization of cities into networks. These two theories
