Walleye pollock (Theragra chalcogramma) behavior in midwater trawls
Fisheries Research, 2013Abstract Trawls are standard tools for surveying fisheries resources, yet they are selective in what they retain, and thus provide potentially misleading information about fish populations. In order to evaluate the potential for selective retention in a midwater survey trawl used in conjunction with acoustic surveys of walleye pollock, fish behavior ...

Quality of Mince from Alaska Pollock (Theragra chalcogramma) Frames
Journal of Aquatic Food Product Technology, 1994The quality and frozen stability of minces produced from Alaska pollock (Theragra chalcogramma) frames were compared against commercially produced fillet mince. Fresh frame mince had a higher defect level, lower nutritional content, and darker color. Cooked frame mince had a softer texture than commercial mince.

Atresia of developing Oocytes in walleye pollock Theragra chalcogramma
Journal of Ichthyology, 2015The present study describes the process and characteristic features of oocyte resorption throughout its developmental stages in T. chalcogramma (Pallas, 1814). Histological methods revealed two major resorption pathways: follicular and follicular-histiocytic atresia.

Classification of Ovarian Stages of Walleye Pollock (Theragra chalcogramma)
Resiliency of Gadid Stocks to Fishing and Climate Change, 2008Walleye pollock, Theragra chalcogramma, is the most commercially important species in the eastern Bering Sea. Estimates of maturity are critical for setting an appropriate harvest rate for pollock spawning biomass, and correct classification of ovaries into a maturity condition is necessary for accurate estimation of maturity.

Diel patterns of behavior in juvenile walleye pollock,Theragra chalcogramma
Environmental Biology of Fishes, 1996In laboratory experiments, we contrasted the behavior of juvenile walleye pollock under dark and light conditions, comparing group cohesion, activity levels, vertical distribution, and movement into cold water when the water column was thermally stratified.

Observations on Reprocessing Frozen Alaska Pollock ( Theragra chalcogramma )
Journal of Food Science, 1984ABSTRACT Pollock, processed and frozen in Alaska, were thawed and mechanically filleted using a modified LaPine filleting machine. A Yanagiya flesh separator was used to prepare minced flesh from the fillet trimmings. In addition to standard hand‐packed fillet blocks, blocks were also prepared from randomly packed chopped fillets and ...

Purification and Properties of an Aminopeptidase from Alaska Pollack, Theragra chalcogramma, Roe
The Journal of Biochemistry, 1989An aminopeptidase was isolated from a soluble fraction of Alaska pollack roe in the presence of 2-mercaptoethanol by fractionation with ammonium sulfate and column chromatography on DEAE-cellulose, hydroxyapatite, and Sephadex G-200. The molecular weight of the enzyme was estimated to be 125,000 and 105,000 by gel filtration and sodium dodecyl sulfate ...

Environmental Biology of Fishes, 2004
Genetic variability of the highly valuable gadid species, walleye pollock, Theragra chalcogramma (Pallas 1811), from five spatially separated northwestern Bering Sea areas (Ozernoi Bay, Olutorskyi Bay, Koryak shelf, Navarin region, and Anadyr Gulf ) was investigated.

Population Structure and Dynamics of Walleye Pollock, Theragra chalcogramma
1999The population biology of walleye pollock, Theragra chalcogramma, is described including its life history, population dynamics, genetic structure and metapopulation structure. Walleye pollock is an important species in the ecosystems of the subarctic Pacific Ocean, and is one of the world’s largest fisheries.

Poly(hydroxyalkanoate) Biosynthesis from Crude Alaskan Pollock (Theragra chalcogramma) Oil
Journal of Polymers and the Environment, 2008Six strains of Pseudomonas were tested for their abilities to synthesize poly(hydroxyalkanoate) (PHA) polymers from crude Pollock oil, a large volume byproduct of the Alaskan fishing industry. All six strains were found to produce PHA polymers from hydrolyzed Pollock oil with productivities (P; the percent of the cell mass that is polymer) ranging from
