[Chemoembolization and posterior liver transplantation as therapeutic strategy for hepatocarcinoma].

open access: yesRevista espanola de enfermedades digestivas, 1994
Orthotopic Liver Transplantation (OLT) is the only surgical approach to non-resectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) but, so far its results has been poor. During 41 months 112 patients underwent 123 OLT, nine of them had HCC over cirrhosis with a mean age 60 years. The etiology of cirrhosis was: alcohol in 1 and viral hepatitis in 8. Child's grade: A

Lipiodol retention pattern predicts transarterial chemoembolization therapeutic effect in hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesUniversa Medicina, 2016
BACKGROUND Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) incidence is increasing in Asia and Africa. Locoregional minimally invasive transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) is the palliative therapy of choice, improving survival rate. Adequate lipiodol dose calculation in TACE is necessary to produce good therapeutic effect. Lipiodol retention pattern can predict TACE

Sequential Use of Systemic Therapy With Locoregional Therapy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Japan: Analyses of Real‐World Data Based on a Health Claims Database

open access: yesCancer Medicine
Aim The treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in Japan is driven by locoregional therapies (LRTs). However, the treatment landscape in the era of systemic targeted therapies and immunotherapies is not well understood. We investigated the real‐world

A Case Series of Liver Abscess Formation after Transcatheter Arterial Chemoembolization for Hepatic Tumors

open access: yesChinese Medical Journal, 2017
Background: Liver abscess is a serious complication following transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE). Much attention has been paid to this condition as it may interfere with the treatment process and result in a poor prognosis of the patient ...

Interleukin‐37 Enhances Liver NK Cell Cytotoxicity and Improves Recurrence‐Free Survival in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients

open access: yesJournal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains a major cause of cancer‐related mortality worldwide, and postoperative recurrence continues to limit long‐term survival. Liver‐resident natural killer (NK) cells are key effectors of antitumor immunity in the hepatic microenvironment. Interleukin‐37 (IL‐37), an anti‐inflammatory cytokine, has

Perioperative Risks of Concurrent Pancreatic and Hepatic Resections for Neuroendocrine Tumors

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNETs) account for 1%–2% of pancreatic tumors, with an increasing incidence. The safety of concurrent pancreas‐liver resections remains uncertain. This study evaluated the national outcomes of concurrent pancreatectomy and liver‐directed surgery for pNETs. Methods ACS‐NSQIP (2019–2023)

Transarterial oily chemoembolization with lidamycin shows potent therapeutic efficacy in VX2 rabbit liver tumor

open access: yesOncoTargets and Therapy, 2015
Transarterial oily chemoembolization (TOCE) is one of the most effective approaches for the treatment of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), who are not suitable for surgical therapy. Lidamycin (LDM), a potent antitumor antibiotic, demonstrates good antitumor efficacy in various tumor types, both in vitro and in vivo.
