Therapeutic embolization of juvenile angiofibroma [PDF]
Therapeutic embolization of juvenile angiofibromas was performed in 15 boys, aged 12--18 years, 11 of whom subsequently underwent surgery. Intraoperative blood loss was reduced from an average of 2,400 ml in nonembolized patients to 800 ml after embolization. Angiography is of value to confirm the diagnosis prior to excision and to delineate the extent

Therapeutic embolization of phaeochromocytoma
The British Journal of Radiology, 1981A patient with metastatic deposits from a phaeochromocytoma may present the clinician with a difficult management problem owing to the relative insensitivity of this tumour to available chemotherapeutic agents and radiotherapy. We report a case in which the adverse humoral effects produced by lymph node metastases from a urinary bladder ...

Animal Models for Therapeutic Embolization
CardioVascular and Interventional Radiology, 2003Embolization techniques have been performed in different animals to accumulate basic data before a clinical trial. Choosing the right embolization model for a specific project is critical. However, there are several variables when defining the best model for embolization research such as the size of the animal to be used, the target organs, the route ...

Pulsatile Tinnitus and Therapeutic Embolization
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1979Fifteen patients with disabling pulse-synchronous tinnitus were investigated with super-selective angiography demonstrating an arteriovenous malformation in 8 cases, chemodectoma of the jugular bulb in 3, and a local arterial stenosis in one case. In 12 of these cases the murmur could be registered objectively, while in the 3 cases with a negative ...
