Can plasma exchange therapy induce regulatory T lymphocytes in multiple sclerosis patients? [PDF]
Plasma exchange is used increasingly as an individual therapeutic decision for treating of severe, steroid-resistant relapses of multiple sclerosis (MS).

A quantitative model for refilling of the sarcoplasmic reticulum during vascular smooth muscle asynchronous [Ca2+] oscillations [PDF]
We have developed a quantitative model for the creation of cytoplasmic Ca2+ gradients near the inner surface of the plasma membrane (PM). In particular we simulated the refilling of the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) via PM-SR junctions during asynchronous [Ca2+] oscillations in smooth muscle cells of the rabbit inferior vena cava.

A Rare case of Guillain-Barré syndrome in pregnancy treated with plasma exchange
Guillain-Barre syndromé (GBS) is an autoimmune disorder. It is rare in pregnancy as there is a decrease in cell-mediated immunity. A case of 28-year-old pregnant woman who presented with acute flaccid quadriplegia suffering from GBS is discussed in this ...

What is new in the management of rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis? [PDF]
Rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis (RPGN) results from severe crescentic damage to glomeruli and leads to irreversible kidney failure if not diagnosed and managed in a timely fashion.

Cold Gas Plasma Sources and the Science behind their Applications in Biology and Medicine [PDF]
Studies on the interaction of plasma generated at atmospheric pressure and at room temperature (low temperature plasma or just cold plasma) with biological cells and tissues have revealed that cold plasma has therapeutic effects that form the basis for new medical therapies.

Atmospheric pressure plasma jets applied to cancerology: correlating electrical configurations with in vivo toxicity and therapeutic efficiency [PDF]
Two atmospheric pressure plasma jet devices - a plasma gun and a plasma Tesla jet - are compared in terms of safety and therapeutic efficiency to reduce the tumor volume progression of cholangiocarcinoma, i.e. a rare and very aggressive cancer emerging in biliary tree. For this, a three steps methodology is carried out.

Momentum-Exchange Current Drive by Electrostatic Waves in an Unmagnetized Collisionless Plasma [PDF]
For an electrostatic wave interacting with a single species in a collisionless plasma, momentum conservation implies current conservation. However, when multiple species interact with the wave, they can exchange momentum, leading to current drive. A simple, general formula for this driven current is derived.

Exchange effects in Coulomb quantum plasmas: Dispersion of waves in 2D and 3D mediums [PDF]
We describe quantum hydrodynamic equations with the Coulomb exchange interaction for three and two dimensional plasmas. Explicit form of the force densities are derived. We present non-linear Schrodinger equations (NLSEs) for the Coulomb quantum plasmas with the exchange interaction. We show contribution of the exchange interaction in the dispersion of
