A compensated thermal anemometer and flowmeter
Electrical Engineering, 1951A THERMAL anemometer with unusual sensitivity, accuracy, and ruggedness has been developed for laboratory and industrial use. It operates from a heated noble metal thermopile which is placed in the airstream whose velocity is to be measured. The anemometer is practically independent of temperature over a considerable range since both the hot and cold ...

Theoretical aspects of thermal blooming compensation
Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1977In this paper we present the theoretical background required for evaluating phase compensation as a technique for reducing the effects of thermal blooming. By using a time-dependent approach for thermal blooming, we can define and evaluate the instantaneous Green’s function for the heated atmosphere. The phase at the mirror is determined by propagating

Experimental observation of thermal-blooming phase-compensation instability
Optics Letters, 1989We have made the first experimental observations to our knowledge of thermal-blooming phase-compensation instability. We identified the instability by impressing a spatial intensity modulation on the laser beam and watching this modulation grow as thermal-blooming compensation was performed with a 69-channel phaseconjugate adaptive-optics system.

Thermally Compensated Inflatable Packers and Plugs
Journal of Petroleum Technology, 2000This article is a synopsis of paper SPE 59139, "Zonal Isolation in Stimulation Treatments and Gas/Water Shutoff Using Thermally Compensated Inflatable Packers and Plugs," by Paul Wilson and Corey E. Hoffman, SPE, Weatherford, originally presented at the 2000 IADC/SPE Drilling Conference, New Orleans, 23-25 February.

Space charge compensation of thermal beams
Il Nuovo Cimento A, 1993The space charge compensation of round electron as well as ion beams is treated, using the equivalence of the KV envelope equation to the paraxial-ray equation. The compensation of cold beams is simulated first, solving the radial Poisson equation for a beam with uniform charge distribution and a compensating particle distribution according to ...

On the thermal sampling compensation law
Journal of Electrostatics, 1999Abstract The arguments presented earlier by the author in this journal (J. Electrost. 36 (1996) 323), in order to explain the appearance of a compensation law in window polarization experiments performed at poling temperatures near the polymer transition temperature T g by a structure-dependent activation energy, are rephrased.

Equivalent thin lens model for thermal blooming compensation
Applied Optics, 1978By expressing the solution to the nonlinear wage equation in operator form, we derive two methods for calculating a corrective phase to compensate for thermal blooming. The first method employs a form of glint return in which the uncorrected beam is first propagated through free space to the target.

Demonstration of spontaneous thermal-blooming phase-compensation instability
Optics Letters, 1991We have observed significant growth of phase modulation when thermal blooming is compensated by a 241-channel phase-conjugate adaptive-optics system. These modulations, which were not artificially seeded, occurred at a spatial frequency characteristic of the adaptive-optics system and resulted in a corresponding decay of the far-field irradiance. These
