Overview of Advanced LIGO Adaptive Optics
This is an overview of the adaptive optics used in Advanced LIGO (aLIGO), known as the thermal compensation system (TCS). The thermal compensation system was designed to minimize thermally-induced spatial distortions in the interferometer optical modes ...

Stress compensation by gap monolayers for stacked InAs/GaAs quantum dots solar cells [PDF]
In this work we report the stacking of 10 and 50 InAs quantum dots layers using 2 monolayers of GaP for stress compensation and a stack period of 18 nm on GaAs (001) substrates. Very good structural and optical quality is found in both samples.

Thermal Deformation Modeling for Phased Array Antenna Compensation Control
Thermal compensation control can correct errors caused by the thermal deformation of phased array antenna (PAA) panels. Thermal deformation of the panel is needed to calculate the compensation value.

Effects of mode degeneracy in the LIGO Livingston Observatory recycling cavity [PDF]
We analyze the electromagnetic fields in a Pound-Drever-Hall locked, marginally unstable, Fabry-Perot cavity as a function of small changes in the cavity length during resonance.

A particle swarm optimisation-based Grey prediction model for thermal error compensation on CNC machine tools [PDF]
Thermal errors can have a significant effect on CNC machine tool accuracy. The thermal error compensation system has become a cost-effective method of improving machine tool accuracy in recent years.

Thermal-difference compensation for structural members [PDF]
Aluminum-thermal difference link maintains constant length of strut despite environmental temperature changes. An extension spring decreases load on the compensator drive linkage when strut is in tension, when strut is in compression, a compression ...

Coalescence of the Fermi-surface-related diffuse intensity peaks in disordered alloys
The possibility of disappearance of the diffuse-intensity peak splitting induced by the Fermi surface (i.e., of coalescence of the intensity maxima) with decreasing temperature is predicted.

Thermal compensation reduces DNA damage from UV radiation
Increases in ultraviolet radiation (UVR) correlate spatially and temporally with global amphibian population declines and interact with other stressors such as disease and temperature. Declines have largely occurred in high-altitude areas associated with greater UVR and cooler temperatures.
