Transient thermal contact resistance
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1991Abstract The short-time asymptotic solution for the heat flow between two similar bodies placed in contact has recently been given by Barber. The long-time asymptotic solution is given here: it has exactly the same form as the short-time asymptote Q KT 0 = C 0 + C 1 √(παt) but, in general, has different coefficients.

Thermal resistance (Rth) enhancement by optimizing TO package thermal contact
2010 34th IEEE/CPMT International Electronic Manufacturing Technology Symposium (IEMT), 2009The trend for package size shrinkage has created challenges to thermal performance while improving the cost performance. When TO package size shrink by minimizing the leadframe copper usage, challenges in package warpage and thermal contact become great.

Reducing thermal contact resistance using nanocoating
Applied Thermal Engineering, 2014Abstract Thermal contact resistance (TCR) between solid and solid is a very important phenomenon in many application fields including power generation, refrigeration systems, air conditioning, manufacturing, aerospace etc. The purpose of this paper is to understand and quantify the effect of the aluminum nanocoating on the TCR.

Thermal contact resistance in injection molding
Polymer Engineering & Science, 1990AbstractThis paper describes a method for obtaining the thermal contact resistance (TCR) between an injection molded part and its mold. Due to the absence of TCR the simulated cooling times obtained from Polycool II, a computer aided engineering (CAE) package for cooling simulation of injection molding, have compared poorly with both field and ...

Electro-thermal analysis of contact resistance
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2018Electro-Mechanical characterization over copper samples are performed at the macroscopic level to understand the dependence of electrical contact resistance and temperature on surface roughness and contact pressure. For two different surface roughness levels of samples, six levels of load are selected and varied to capture the bulk temperature rise and

Experimental techniques for thermal contact resistance measurements
Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, 1993ABSTRACT A number of different experimental techniques have been used to determine the thermal resistance of materials in contact, depending upon specific test requirements. These techniques and associated experimental facilities are reviewed, including the traditional cut-bar vertical-column test facilities, and more specialized facilities and ...

Thermal-Contact Resistance in Finned Tubing
Journal of Heat Transfer, 1960Interference-fit finned tubes depend for their heat-transfer capability upon a contact pressure between fin and tube. The bond resistance under such conditions is relatively small compared to the other resistances in the heat-flow path. At elevated temperatures, however, differential thermal expansion between fins and tubes completely relaxes the ...

Research Progress of Thermal Contact Resistance
Journal of Low Temperature Physics, 2020Thermal contact resistance of solid–solid interface is involved in many fields such as aerospace, low-temperature superconductivity and electronic machinery. With the booming of aerospace technology, the requirements for space detectors continue to increase; the research on accurate prediction, measurement and utilization of thermal contact resistance ...

Thermal Contact Resistance: Experiment Versus Theory
International Journal of Thermophysics, 1998With a knowledge of the thermal resistance value associated with an asperity, a model for the thermal contact resistance of a given interface is obtained by considering that each asperity of surfaces in contact is a flux tube. Calculation of any of the thermal conductances depends on the contact radius of each asperity. This radius increases with load,

Modeling Thermal Contact Resistance
1995One difficulty in using cryocoolers is making good thermal contact between the cooler and the instrument being cooled. The connection is often made through a bolted joint. The temperature drop associated with this joint has been the subject of many experimental and theoretical studies. The low temperature behavior of dry joints has shown some anomalous
