Thermal degradation of polymers at high temperatures

open access: yesJournal of Research of the National Bureau of Standards Section A: Physics and Chemistry, 1959
Work on thermal degradation of polymers has previously been carried out at temperatures up to about 500° C. In the present work the range has been extended to 850° C. Polystyrene was pyrolyzed in a vacuum and also in helium at atmospheric pressure at 362° and at 850° C.

Thermal oxidation kinetics of additive free polyamide 6-6 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Thermal aging of an additive free PA 6-6 has been elucidated at 90, 100, 120, 140, 150 and 160 C in airventiled ovens by Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometry, viscosimetry in molten state and uniaxial tensile testing.

Cooling Water for Electricity Production in Poland: Assessment and New Perspectives

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Sustainable development requires a holistic approach to natural resources and ecosystems to avoid their degradation. Cooling water—water used for cooling in industrial or manufacturing processes and then returned at elevated temperature to a local river ...

Thermal degradation of polystyrene in air [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science: Polymer Letters Edition, 1979
The degradation of polystyrene has been a subject of many investigations and a large volume of literature exists on the subject. More recently Cascaval et al.(1) have reported that the weight loss of polystyrene containing end groups derived from azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) seems to be different from that of anionically polymerized samples.

Oxidative degradation of polylactide (PLA) and its effects on physical and mechanical properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The thermo-oxidative degradation of polylactide (PLA) films was studied between 70 and 150 C. It was shown that the oxidative degradation of PLA leads to a random chain cission responsible for a reduction of the molar mass.
