MHD natural convection flow with radiative heat transfer past an impulsively moving vertical plate with ramped temperature in the presence of hall current and thermal diffusion

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2013
An investigation on an unsteady MHD natural convection flow with radiative heat transfer of a viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting and optically thick fluid past an impulsively moving vertical plate with ramped temperature in a porous medium ...

Incorporation of Selenium into Sol–Gel‐Derived Bioactive Glass: Influence on Glass Structure, Bioactivity, and its Selective Cytotoxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Selenium was incorporated into a sol–gel‐derived bioactive glass to enable sustained therapeutic ion release. The selenium‐containing glass preserved bioactivity while selectively inducing cytotoxicity in osteosarcoma cells and maintaining osteoblastic viability.

Development of an Analytic Nodal Diffusion Solver in Multigroups for 3D Reactor Cores with Rectangular or Hexagonal Assemblies. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
More accurate modelling of physical phenomena involved in present and future nuclear reactors requires a multi-scale and multi-physics approach. This challenge can be accomplished by the coupling of best-estimate core-physics, thermal-hydraulics and ...

Thermal transport induced by stochastic magnetic fields and turbulence during the thermal quench in tokamak plasmas

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
The timescale of thermal quench (TQ) remains a long-lasting issue in tokamak plasmas, which has not been fully understood yet. In this work, based on our previous thermal diffusion model and further considering the scattering caused by the electrostatic ...

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Characterization upon electrical hysteresis and thermal diffusion of TiAl3O x dielectric film

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2011
In this paper, we have investigated the electrical properties of TiAl3O x film as electrical gate insulator deposited by pulsed laser deposition and presented a simple method to describe the thermal diffusion behaviors of metal atoms at TiAl3O x /Si ...

Hydrogen‐Assisted Fracture of Iron‐Based Fe–Ni–Al Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Principal relations and fracture mechanisms of single‐phase and precipitate‐strengthened Fe–Ni–Al alloys subjected to prior electrochemical hydrogen charging are identified. The mechanisms of hydrogen effect on strength and microhardness are discussed, including hydrogen‐induced increase in microhardness and the role of hydrogen in fracture behavior ...
