A Thermal Elastohydrodynamic Theory for Individual Asperity-Asperity Collisions
Journal of Lubrication Technology, 1971A thermal elastohydrodynamic theory is developed for the collision between two idealized asperities on surfaces in sliding contact. Numerical solutions are obtained for the pressure, temperature, and film thickness between the asperities as functions of their overlap, the sliding speed, and the time since the initiation of the collision for a given ...

Thermal Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication of Rolling/Sliding Line Contacts
Journal of Tribology, 1992The solution of thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication of rolling/sliding line contacts has been obtained. The Newton-Raphson technique was used to solve the simultaneous system of Reynolds and elasticity equations. The energy equation with boundary conditions was solved by the finite-difference method.

On the thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication in opposite sliding circular contacts
Tribology International, 2001Abstract Cases of elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) point contacts running under opposite sliding conditions have been studied with consideration of the thermal effect for various loads and entrainment velocities. A thermal EHL solver has been developed and proven to be able to deal even with extreme cases under an infinite slide–roll ratio ...

Thermal effects in elastohydrodynamic spinning circular contacts
Numerical modelling of thermal effects in elastohydrodynamic lubrication solvers
2003The numerical modelling of thermal effects in elastohydrodynamic lubrication solvers is addressed by extending the code of the authors. This code is used to investigate the important effect of shear upon the temperature profiles for both a steady state and a transient line reversal example and also for a steady state point contact problem.
