Thermal Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication of Rolling/Sliding Contacts
Journal of Tribology, 1990A complete numerical solution of thermal compressible elastohydrodynamic lubrication of rolling/sliding contacts has been obtained. The Newton-Raphson technique is used to solve the simultaneous system of Reynolds and elasticity equations. The control volume finite element modeling was employed to solve the energy equation and its boundary conditions ...

Thermal Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication of Line Contact Considering the Thermal Elastic Deformation
2020By considering the radial thermal elastic deformation of line contact solid surface caused by lubricant temperature rise, a new numerical method is utilized to calculate the solution of thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication (TEHL) in line contact.

Thermal Stability of Models of Rough Elastohydrodynamic Systems
Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 1976Asperity interactions in the inlet zone of an elastohydrodynamic system may increase the local temperatures in that zone and cause a significant decrease in the minimum thickness of the lubricant film. Theoretical studies of various model systems, in which the direct effect of the roughness of the surfaces on the hydrodynamics has been ignored, show ...

Quantitative Compressibility Effects in Thermal Elastohydrodynamic Circular Contacts
Journal of Tribology, 2012This paper investigates the effects of lubricant compressibility on the film-forming performance of thermal elastohydrodynamic lubricated (EHL) circular contacts. Numerical film thickness predictions using the classical Dowson and Higginson relationship are compared to those that would be obtained using a more realistic compressibility model, all other

Damping characteristics of thermal elastohydrodynamic lubricated point contacts
Journal of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering, 2021The present work envisaged the development of a novel method for computing the damping coefficients of thermal elastohydrodynamic lubricated point contacts based on energy conservation. The effects of load, entrainment velocity, and slide–roll ratio were studied, and the results were compared with the ISO thermal results.

A refined model for the thermal elastohydrodynamic in let zone
Wear, 1978Abstract The formation of lubricant films in the elastohydrodynamic inlet zone in the presence of thermal effects is considered according to the analysis of Grubin. The analyses indicate that surface contacts with unequal temperatures as well as viscous heating play an important role in determing the inlet film thickness.

Thermal Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication Analysis for Point Contact Transmission
Volume 4: Design and Manufacturing, 2009To investigate the thermal EHL (elastohydrodynamic lubrication) in point contact transmission, a model considering the two-dimensional surface velocity of tooth face and the running-in is proposed. The numerical solutions for pressure, temperature and film thickness distribution in the contact zone are obtained by solving equations including the ...

Analysis of the thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication of a finite line contact
Tribology International, 2002A complete numerical solution for the thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) problem of a finite line contact between an infinite plane and an axially profiled cylindrical roller is obtained. The pressure profile and the film shape in the middle part of the roller are very different from those at the ends. However, the finite line contact results

Traction in Thermal Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication of Rough Surfaces
Journal of Tribology, 1992This paper studies the traction behavior of elastohydrodynamically lubricated line contacts between two rough surfaces. The study uses a thermal micro-elastohydrodynamic-lubrication (micro-EHL) model and obtains traction coefficients for a wide range of operating conditions and for film parameters as small as 1.50.

A Numerical Solution of the Thermal Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication in an Elliptical Contact
Journal of Lubrication Technology, 1982A numerical solution for the calculation of thickness and temperature of film and traction coefficients between heavily loaded elliptical contact is developed. To start the calculation a Hertzian pressure distribution modified at the inlet and outlet regions is assumed and the surface deformations are calculated.
