Thermal noise in a boost-invariant matter expansion in relativistic heavy-ion collisions

open access: yes, 2017
We formulate a general theory of thermal fluctuations within causal second-order viscous hydrodynamic evolution of matter formed in relativistic heavy-ion collisions.

RHESSI images and spectra of two small flares

open access: yes, 2005
We studied the evolution of two small flares (GOES class C2 and C1) that developed in the same active region with different morphological characteristics: one is extended and the other is compact. We analyzed the accuracy and the consistency of different

Mars thermal history based on its tectonic and structural systems [PDF]

open access: yesGeofísica Internacional, 2002
We suggest an interpretation of the thermal history of Mars base on crustal deformations. Local deformations are associated with an increase of the thermal gradient with time and indicate tensional stresses in eruptive centers such as Alba Patera ...

Thermal Evolution of a Pulsating Neutron Star

open access: yes, 2005
We have derived a set of equations to describe the thermal evolution of a neutron star which undergoes small-amplitude radial pulsations. We have taken into account, in the frame of the General Theory of Relativity, the pulsation damping due to the bulk ...

Thermal evolution of lava planets

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society
ABSTRACT Rocky planets typically form with a transient magma ocean. Lava planets, however, maintain a permanent day-side magma ocean. The extent of this magma ocean depends on the planet’s thermal history. We present numerical simulations of the thermal history of tidally locked lava planets over 10 billion years, starting from a ...

Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Process and Controlling Factors of Pore Evolution in Marine-Continental Transitional Black Shale—An Example From Permian Shanxi Formation in the Eastern Margin of Ordos Basin

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
Pore and pore network evolution of shale is critical for the evaluation the pore system in shale gas reservoirs. Thermal maturation effect acts as an indispensable role in porosity evolution.
