Heat flow in InAs/InP heterostructure nanowires [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The transfer of heat between electrons and phonons plays a key role for thermal management in future nanowire-based devices, but only a few experimental measurements of electron-phonon (e-ph) coupling in nanowires are available.

Establishment of a coculture system for Porphyromonas gingivalis and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma using spheroid culture and LATS inhibition

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We established a spheroid coculture system enabling viable Porphyromonas gingivalis–HNSCC interactions under normoxic conditions. Inhibition of LATS1/2 maintains tumor cells in an undifferentiated state, which may promote spheroid growth and create a more permissive environment for bacterial persistence.

ATP13A2 is involved in intracellular polyamine transport in lung epithelial cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Spermidine transport in lung epithelial cells involves the polyamine transporter ATP13A2. Cell proliferation is associated with the upregulation of ATP13A2. Polyamines are present in all living cells and are implicated in various crucial cellular processes such as proliferation, apoptosis and autophagy.

Development of a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Hybrid Urban Air Mobility System Model Using a Hydrogen Metal Hydride Tank

open access: yesEnergies
Hydrogen fuel cell-based UAM (urban air mobility) systems are gaining significant attention due to their advantages of higher energy density and longer flight durations compared to conventional battery-based UAM systems.

Quantum thermal machines with single nonequilibrium environments

open access: yes, 2015
We propose a scheme for a quantum thermal machine made by atoms interacting with a single non-equilibrium electromagnetic field. The field is produced by a simple configuration of macroscopic objects held at thermal equilibrium at different temperatures.

Substrate integrated waveguide textile antennas as energy harvesting platforms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Textile multi-antenna systems are key components of smart fabric and interactive textile (SFIT) systems, as they establish reliable and energy-efficient wireless body-centric communication links.

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

X-in-the-Loop Testing of a Thermal Management System Intended for an Electric Vehicle with In-Wheel Motors

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
The article describes an elaboration of the X-in-the-loop (XiL) testing environment for a thermal management system (TMS) intended for the traction electric drive of an electric vehicle, which has each of its wheels driven by an in-wheel motor.

Thermal management of catalytically supported thermal combustion systems

open access: yes, 2022
For any given catalyst and set of reaction conditions, as the temperature in catalytic combustion is initially increased, the reaction rate is also increased. This rate of increase is exponential with temperature. As the temperature is raised further, the reaction rate then passes through a transition zone where the limiting parameters determining ...
