Optimizing the thermal energy storage performance of shallow aquifers based on gray correlation analysis and multi-objective optimization

open access: yesNatural Gas Industry B, 2023
The operation parameters and well layout parameters of aquifer thermal energy storage (ATES) system directly influence the thermal energy storage performance. How to optimize the parameters to obtain the optimal process scheme is of great significance to

Performance evaluation and economic analysis of integrated solid oxide electrolyzer cell and proton exchange membrane fuel cell for power generation

open access: yesHeliyon
In order to generate clean electricity from thermal energy, a hybrid electrochemical system is conceptually developed by coupling the proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) and solid oxide electrolyzer cell (SOEC).

Steady and transient modeling of dye-sensitive solar cells: The impact of electrode thickness and dye specifications

open access: yesEnergy Conversion and Management: X
Investigating the impact of dye compounds on cell performance is crucial for advancing dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). This research focuses on the sensitivity analysis of the effect of critical parameters to enhance DSSC efficiency using a thermo ...

Multi-objective optimization of endoreversible magnetohydrodynamic cycle

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2022
According to the magnetohydrodynamic cycle model established in the previous literature, this article applies finite time thermodynamic theory and NSGA-II algorithm to conduct multi-objective optimization by taking heat exchanger thermal conductance ...

Efficiency of quantum versus classical annealing in non-convex learning problems

open access: yes, 2017
Quantum annealers aim at solving non-convex optimization problems by exploiting cooperative tunneling effects to escape local minima. The underlying idea consists in designing a classical energy function whose ground states are the sought optimal ...

Calculation of thermal parameters of SiGe microbolometers

open access: yes, 2012
The thermal parameters of a SiGe microbolometer were calculated using numerical modeling. The calculated thermal conduction and thermal response time are in good agreement with the values found experimentally and range between 2x10$^-7$ and 7x10$^-8$ W/K

Thermal food processing computation software [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The objective of this research consisted of developing the two following thermal food processing software: “F-CALC” is software developed to carry out thermal process calculations based on the well-known Ball's formula method, and “OPT-PROx” is software ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
