An Integrated Prediction and Optimization Model of a Thermal Energy Production System in a Factory Producing Furniture Components

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Thermal energy is an important input of furniture components production. A thermal energy production system includes complex, non-linear, and changing combustion processes.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Crystallization of Biogenic Hydroxyapatite: Phase Purity and Morphological Control via Successive Annealing and Grinding

open access: yesSakarya Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Dergisi
Hydroxyapatite (HAp) derived from biogenic sources offers a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to synthetic materials, yet controlling its crystal structure and morphology remains a key challenge.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

Optimal Control of Thermally Convected Fluid Flows [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Scientific Computing, 1998
The optimal control problem is: minimize vorticity in viscous steady incompressible thermally convected flow in a smooth bounded 2-dimensional domain \(\Omega\) by controlling the temperature on the boundary \(\Gamma\). The state equations for the velocity \({\mathbf u}\), the pressure \(p\) and the temperature \(T\) in \(\Omega\) are \[ \begin{aligned}

Topology optimization for near-junction thermal spreading of electronics in ballistic-diffusive regime

open access: yesiScience, 2023
Summary: Hotspots in electronic devices can cause overheating and reduce performance. Enhancing the thermal spreading ability is critical for reducing device temperature to improve the reliability. However, as devices shrink, phonon ballistic effects can

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Optimization of thermal processing of canned mussels

open access: yesFood Science and Technology International, 2011
The design and optimization of thermal processing of solid–liquid food mixtures, such as canned mussels, requires the knowledge of the thermal history at the slowest heating point. In general, this point does not coincide with the geometrical center of the can, and the results show that it is located along the axial axis at a height that depends on the
