Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A Method to Determine Human Skin Heat Capacity Using a Non-Invasive Calorimetric Sensor

open access: yesSensors, 2020
A calorimetric sensor has been designed to measure the heat flow dissipated by a 2 × 2 cm2 skin surface. In this work, a non-invasive method is proposed to determine the heat capacity and thermal conductance of the area of skin where the measurement is ...

Technique and setup for diagnostics of p-n junction–package thermal resistance in high-power gallium nitride LEDs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present a setup and procedure of studying p-n junction–package thermal resistance in high-power light-emitting diodes (LEDs) from their thermal relaxation. A set of LEDs mounted on a metal-core printed circuit board (MCPCB) were studied.

Identification and characterization of the dominant thermal resistance in lithium-ion batteries using operando 3-omega sensors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Poor thermal transport within lithium-ion batteries fundamentally limits their performance, safety, and lifetime, in spite of external thermal management systems.

Investigation of thermal resistance and power consumption in Ga-doped indium oxide (In2O3) nanowire phase change random access memory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The resistance stability and thermal resistance of phase change memory devices using similar to 40 nm diameter Ga-doped In2O3 nanowires (Ga:In2O3 NW) with different Ga-doping concentrations have been investigated. The estimated resistance stability (R(t)/

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

A Numerical Investigation on Hydrothermal Performance of Micro Channel Heat Sink with Periodic Spatial Modification on Sidewalls

open access: yesMicromachines, 2022
Electronic gadgets have been designed to incorporating very small components such as microcontrollers, electronic chips, transistors, microprocessors, etc. These components are exceptionally heat sensitive and can be wrecked if heat is not released. As a

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Degradation processes in LED modules

open access: yesSemiconductor Physics, Quantum Electronics & Optoelectronics, 2016
Electrical-heat-light degradation model of a light-emitting module has been developed in this work. The Monte-Carlo method was used to calculate the reliability time of LED modules with different halfwidth of LED chip series resistance. Separation of LED
