Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Research Progress and Prospect of Thermal Flutter of Hypersonic Vehicles

open access: yesHangkong gongcheng jinzhan, 2022
Hypersonic vehicle is subjected to severe aerodynamic load and aerodynamic heating during the flight. Thus structural dynamic stability and response caused by aerodynamic force and aerodynamic heating should be fully considered in the design process of ...

Temperature induced pore fluid pressurization in geomaterials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The theoretical basis of the thermal response of the fluid-saturated porous materials in undrained condition is presented. It has been demonstrated that the thermal pressurization phenomenon is controlled by the discrepancy between the thermal expansion ...

Thermal response of jointed rock masses inferred from infrared thermographic surveying (Acuto test-site, Italy) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The Mediterranean region is affected by considerable daily and seasonal temperature variations due to intense solar radiation. In mid-seasons, thermal excursions can exceed tens of degrees thus influencing the long-term behaviour of jointed rock masses ...

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Laboratory Investigation of Heterogeneous Metamorphic Rocks and Their Spatial Distribution of Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesEnergies
Assessing the variation in the thermal conductivity of heterogeneous rock materials can be critical when upscaling models to simulate geothermal system operation, especially for petrothermal systems, where conduction dominates over convection. This study’

Smart Heating and Cooling Heat Pump System by Standing Column Well and Cross-Mixing Balancing Well Heat Exchangers

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Standing column well (SCW) geothermal heat exchanger permits a bleeding discharge of less than 20% in the event of a maximum load, which is an inappropriate method of using underground water. In this study, the existing operational method of two adjacent

Resistivity Response of Thermally Treated Granite During the Compression Test

open access: yesACS Omega, 2022
To determine the stress and damage state of rock mass is important for many geotechnical engineering. To study the feasibility of resistivity measurement in characterizing the damage and stress state, the resistivity measurement, uniaxial compression test, and incremental loading-unloading compression test were carried out on granite samples with ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
