Thermal stress reduction in cool roof membranes using phase change materials (PCM) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A considerable amount of energy is used in the building sector for air conditioning purposes. Additionally, the building sector contributes to the urban heat island (UHI) phenomenon which causes temperature rise in urban areas.

The spatial and temporal evolution of thermal stress after granite emplacement and its influencing factors

open access: yesDizhi lixue xuebao
Objective  Granitic magmas are genetically associated with magmatic-hydrothermal deposits and oil and gas reservoirs. The emplacement of granitic magmas into cooler rocks produced thermal anomaly and thermal stress, yet systematic studies on the spatial ...

Numerical simulation of temperature field and temperature stress of thermal jet for water measurement

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Remote Sensing, 2020
Thermal-jet for water Measurement spallation is a rock removal process that utilizes induced thermal stress to fracture the rock into small fragments before melting of the rock occurs.

How Stress Can Reduce Dissipation in Glasses

open access: yes, 2011
We propose that stress can decrease the internal friction of amorphous solids, either by increasing the potential barriers of defects, thus reducing their tunneling and thermal activation that produce loss, or by decreasing the coupling between defects ...

Casimir effect from macroscopic quantum electrodynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The canonical quantization of macroscopic electromagnetism was recently presented in New J. Phys. 12 (2010) 123008. This theory is here used to derive the Casimir effect, by considering the special case of thermal and zero-point fields. The stress-energy-

Thermal Mapping of Power Semiconductors in H-Bridge Circuit

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
In this paper, a universal H-bridge circuit is used as a loading emulator to investigate the loss and thermal models of the power semiconductor. Based on its operation principle and modulation method, the dominating factors’ (e.g., power factor, loading ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Thermal Stress Analysis of Transversally Corrugated Tube in Solar Receiver Under Semi-Circumference Heating

open access: yes发电技术
ObjectiveIn daily operation, the outer wall of solar receiver tube is subjected to uneven heat flux between the inner and outer sides at cylindrical receiver, which leads to the uneven distribution of wall temperature and large temperature gradient.
