Improvement of surface layers properties of precision engineering elements of optical ceramics by preliminary electron-beam surfacing

open access: yesTrudy Odesskogo Politehničeskogo Universiteta, 2016
To prevent destruction of the elements made of optical ceramics the practical importance has the preliminary electron-beam treatment of their surfaces during the manufacturing stage of devices based on them.

Thermal stresses in rings of thermoplastic composites made by automated fiber placement process

open access: yesScience and Engineering of Composite Materials, 2011
The automated fiber placement (AFP) of thermoplastic composites has a complex thermal history, which seriously leads to residual stresses in the products.

The Thermomechanical Finite Element Analysis of 3003-H14 Plates Joined by the GMAW Process

open access: yesMetals, 2020
The gas metal arc welding (GMAW) process was used to weld 3003-H14 plates under restricted and unrestricted thermal expansion. Experimental and numerical analysis were conducted to determine the relation between weld thermal cycles and residual stresses.

CALCULATION OF THERMAL STRESS ON SOLID SURFACE IN ELASTOHYDRODYNAMIC LUBRICATION OF LINE CONTACT

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2020
In line contact thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication, changes of temperature rise are generated on the two solid surfaces in contact with oil film, and the thermal stresses of the two solid surfaces are bound to be generated.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

Partial depletion of plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1 decreases subcutaneous fat cell hypertrophy and liver cholesterol in high‐fat‐fed female mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.
