On the Use of Constitutive Internal Variable Equations for Thermal Stress Predictions in Aluminium Casting [PDF]

open access: yesModeling, Identification and Control, 1993
The report discusses the use of constitutive equations with internal variables in mathematical calculations of the thermally induced strains and stresses that arise during casting of aluminium.

Extracellular matrix remodeling and immune reprogramming drive residual tumor progression of liver cancer after incomplete microwave ablation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Incomplete microwave ablation (iMWA) of liver cancer triggers a biphasic progression in residual tumors. At Day 3, the microenvironment is characterized by acute inflammatory responses and extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling. By Day 14, a profound shift occurs toward oncogenic signal transduction and immunosuppression, marked by macrophage ...

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Influence of Internal Stresses in Few-Mode Fiber on the Thermal Characteristics of Regenerated Gratings

open access: yesPhotonic Sensors, 2019
The pre-treatment of few-mode fibers (FMFs) has been successfully done with CO2 laser. The wavelength difference, Δλ between the two resonant wavelengths in the few-mode fiber Bragg grating (FMFBG) varies with temperature increment during the annealing ...

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Residual stress determination by neutron diffraction in powder bed fusion-built Alloy 718: Influence of process parameters and post-treatment

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2020
Alloy 718 is a nickel-based superalloy that is widely used as a structural material for high-temperature applications. One concern that arises when Alloy 718 is manufactured using powder bed fusion (PBF) is that residual stresses appear due to the high ...

High pressure turbine rotor blades heating duration experimental estimates prior to the bypass turbofan engine start for reducing thermal stresses

open access: yesНаучный вестник МГТУ ГА
Reducing the durability cost of an aircraft product is an issue either addressed at the design stage or causing significant design modifications. Turbine preheating of a gas turbine engine (GTE) allows for the thermal stress of the rotor blades (RB) to ...

Identification of (20R)‐protopanaxadiol from Panax ginseng as a novel anti‐SARS‐CoV‐2 compound

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We established a noninfectious BAC‐based SARS‐CoV‐2 replicon that enables antiviral screening under BSL‐2 conditions. Using this platform, we screened 373 food‐derived compounds and identified (20R)‐protopanaxadiol from Panax ginseng as a novel inhibitor of SARS‐CoV‐2 RNA replication, highlighting the value of safe replicon systems for antiviral ...

Modeling and extraction of residual stresses in some MEMS multilayer systems [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sensors and Sensor Systems
The intrinsic stresses introduced during the MEMS multilayer deposition process and the thermal stresses introduced during operation can significantly impact the performance, reliability, and lifetime of the product. The mechanical properties of the MEMS
