Three novel oligosaccharides synthesized using Thermoanaerobacter brockii kojibiose phosphorylase

open access: yesChemistry Central Journal, 2007
Background Recently synthesized novel oligosaccharides have been produced primarily by hydrolases and glycosyltransferases, while phosphorylases have also been subject of few studies.

Purification and characterization of a thermostable beta-xylosidase from Thermoanaerobacter ethanolicus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1992
A highly thermostable beta-xylosidase, exhibiting similarly high activities for arylxylose and arylarabinose, was purified (72-fold) to gel electrophoretic homogeneity from the ethanologenic thermophilic anaerobe Thermoanaerobacter ethanolicus. The isoelectric point is pH 4.6; the apparent molecular weight is around 165,000 for the native enzyme (gel ...

Protein Language Model‐Guided Engineering of a 2,3‐Butanediol Dehydrogenase for the Enantioselective Synthesis of Cyclic α‐Hydroxy Ketones

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 18, 27 March 2026.
A (2R,3R)‐butanediol dehydrogenase from Bacillus subtilis (BsBDH) is engineered for the enantioselective synthesis of 2‐hydroxycyclohexanone. A PASS computational design strategy is proposed to enhance the thermostability of BsBDH. Moreover, ESM‐1v combined with ISM is utilized for enhancing and inverting its stereoselectivity.

Correlation of Genomic and Physiological Traits of Thermoanaerobacter Species with Biofuel Yields [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 2011
ABSTRACT Thermophilic anaerobic noncellulolytic Thermoanaerobacter species are of great biotechnological importance in cellulosic ethanol production due to their ability to produce high ethanol yields by simultaneous fermentation of hexose and pentose. Understanding the genome structure of these species is

Optimization of Regioselective α-Glucosylation of Hesperetin Catalyzed by Cyclodextrin Glucanotransferase

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
The regioselective α-glucosylation of hesperetin was achieved by a transglycosylation reaction catalyzed by cyclodextrin glucanotransferase (CGTase) from Thermoanaerobacter sp. using soluble starch as glucosyl donor.

Careful CO Addition Enhances Autotrophic d‐Lactate Formation With Engineered Acetobacterium woodii

open access: yesEngineering in Life Sciences, Volume 26, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT The acetogen A. woodii efficiently converts CO2 and H2 to acetate. Metabolic engineering enabled the autotrophic production of non‐native products, for example, d‐lactate from CO2 by overexpression of d‐lactate dehydrogenase from Leuconostoc mesenteroides and knockout of the native lactate dehydrogenase. During gas fermentation with acetogens,

Thermoanaerobacter sp. CGTase: Its Properties and Application.

open access: yesJournal of the Japanese Society of Starch Science, 1992
A novel CGTase (Cyclomaltodextrin glucanotransferase) has been isolated from a strain of Thermoanaerobacter, a thermophilic anaerobe. The enzyme is extremely heat stable and has a temperature optimum of 90-95°C at pH 6.0. It is active over a broad pH range, and exhibits more than 80% activity from pH 5.0-6.7.

Homoacetogenic Conversion of Mannitol by the Thermophilic Acetogenic Bacterium Thermoanaerobacter kivui Requires External CO2

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2020
Acetogenic microorganisms utilize organic substrates such as sugars in addition to hydrogen (H2) + carbon dioxide (CO2). Recently, we reported that the thermophilic acetogenic microorganism Thermoanaerobacter kivui is among the few acetogens that utilize

A Robust Bioprocess for the Global Incorporation of Noncanonical Amino Acids in Auxotrophic Hosts Produces Labeled Proteins at the Gram Scale

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 1, January 2026.
A robust bioprocess enables global incorporation of noncanonical amino acids in both shake flask and bioreactor cultures, producing gram‐per‐liter titers of efficiently labeled proteins. A versatile Escherichia coli BL21(DE3) auxotroph platform supports broad compatibility with various noncanonical amino acids and target proteins, facilitating flexible

Occurrence and Detection of Thermoanaerobacterium and Thermoanaerobacter in Canned Food

open access: yesFood Technology and Biotechnology, 2002
In order to determine the reason for loss of vacuum in canned food, obligately anaerobic, spore forming thermophilic organisms were isolated from shelf-stable canned food containing vegetables, noodles and potatoes as main ingredients.
