Production of ink containing thermochromic dyestuff

Proceedings - The Eleventh International Symposium GRID 2022, 2022
Security inks are functional inks containing a binder and a special colorant used in money, checks and valuable documents. In security inks, thermochromic dyes, UV emitted, infrared emitted dyes can be used. Thermochromic dyestuffs provide different colors at different temperatures and ensure the requirements in the field of security.

Stability of thermochromic printing inks

2010
Thermochromic (TC) printing inks change their colour regarding the change in temperature. One of the most frequently used TC material in printing inks are leuco dyes. This TC composite usually consists of a colour former (leuco dye), a colour developer and a solvent, protected in polymer capsules.

Colorimetric properties of UV-thermochromic inks

2009
The focus of this paper is on thermochromic inks that change colour in a controlled way when the temperature is varied. We will analyse here colorimetric properties of the screen-printed UV-curing leucodye thermochromic inks in red, blue and black shades with activation temperature of 31 °C.

Thermochromic inks – dynamic colour possibilities

2010
Thermochromic inks are one of the major groups of colour-changing inks. This paper aims at discussing general aspects of thermochromic inks, dynamic colorimetric properties of leuco dye-based thermochromic inks, their stability and principle of variable-temperature colour measurement. We will analyse here a colorimetric properties of the screen-printed

DETERMINATION OF PSEUDOESTROGENIC COMPOUNDS IN THERMOCHROMIC PRINTING INK

2021
The use of thermochromic ink is growing daily, but they contain pseudoestrogenic compounds that have a harmful effect on the human health. Common pseudoestrogenic compounds found in thermochromic ink are bisphenol A and benzophenone. Bisphenol A has a role of the colour developer and benzophenone is used as a photo- initiator in the UV-curing ink ...

Thermochromic printing inks for smart packaging applications

2014
Thermochromic printing inks (TC inks) are the type of chromogenic or colour chang-ing inks that change colour under certain circumstances. The colour change in TC inks is caused by the exposure to temperature gradient. TC printing inks are one of the candidates for active and smart packaging of the future.

Colour changes of UV-curable thermochromic inks

2009
UV-curable leucodye-based thermochromic inks with activation temperature of 31 °C in blue, red and black shades were analysed. The colour of samples does not depend only on their temperature but also on thermal history – they show colour hysteresis. Similar hysteresis loops were obtained for the red and blue samples and narrower for the black sample ...

Dynamic colour and appearance of thermochromic offset inks

2010
The application properties of offset-printable air-drying thermochromic inks in red, black and magenta colours were analysed. They have an activation temperature of 31C, according to the producer data. In similar-sized microcapsules the thermochromic composite is protected from the environment.

Determination of bisphenol A in thermochromic printing inks by HPLC

2015
Bisphenol A (BPA ; Figure 1) is an industrial chemical with major applications in the production of polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins. Polycarbonate is used in food storage containers, while epoxy resins are used in the internal coating for food and beverage cans.
