A Molecular Thermochromic Ferroelectric

Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2020
AbstractMolecular ferroelectrics have attracted considerable interests because of their easy and environmentally friendly processing, low acoustical impedance and mechanical flexibility. Herein, a molecular thermochromic ferroelectric, N,N′‐dimethyl‐1,4‐diazoniabicyclo[2.2.2]octonium tetrachlorocuprate(II) ([DMe‐DABCO]CuCl4) is reported, which shows ...

Intrinsically thermochromic fluorans

Chem. Commun., 2012
A Suzuki coupling strategy has been employed to access a series of novel fluorans substituted with a phenolic moiety. These fluorans display good thermochromism in methyl stearate and obviate the need for traditional complex formulations containing acidic colour developers.

Thermochromic Polymer Opals

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics 2010, 2009
Large-scale shear-ordered photonic crystals are shown to exhibit unusual thermochromic properties. By balancing the refractive index of the polymer core and composite shell components at room temperature, transparent films are created, which become colored on heating to 150 °C. Since this scattering-based structural color depends only on resonant Bragg

Research on the behaviors of extending thermochromic colors for a new thermochromic microcapsule

The Journal of The Textile Institute, 2019
For the purpose of extending the color-change range of thermochromic materials, the new thermochromic microcapsules (TCMs) were designed by combining thermochromic materials with optimized dispersi...

Thermochromism of perylenes: Dynamics in aromatics

Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 2011
A thermal equilibrium between planar and skew perylene derivatives induces thermochromism and may modulate molecular recognition. Thus, the long-lasting discussion about the geometry of perylene could be solved in terms of this equilibrium. Extension to other aromatics and practical applications such as for non contact fluorescence thermometers are ...

Thermochromic discotic 6-oxoverdazyls

Chemical Communications, 2012
6-Oxoverdazyls 1b[n], substituted with three 3,4,5-trialkoxyphenyl groups (n = 8 and 10), exhibit a columnar hexagonal phase (Col(h)) below 130 °C. They display reversible color change from red to green at the transition to the isotropic phase. XRD and magnetization data do not support dimerization of the radicals in the mesophase.

Thermochromism and Acidochromism in Substituted Polyanilines

1987
Conjugated polymers exhibit interesting properties as materials for rechargeable batteries [1–3]. modified electrodes [4], and electrochromic display devices [5–6]. The last application involves a reversible color change depending on the redox state of the polymer; the green oxidized polyaniline films can be changed to transparent yellow by reduction ...
