A thermodilution method for quantification of bidirectional shunts

Computers and Biomedical Research, 1979
Abstract A method for measurement of bidirectional cardiovascular shunt fractions from single indicator dilution curves is presented. Linear system models corresponding to four basic shunt configurations are devised to represent the indicator dilution response of the cardiopulmonary circulation.

Cardiac Output by Thermodilution-Reply

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1985
In Reply.— We thank Dr McIntyre for his thoughtful letter in which he states that the importance of the respiratory effect on the measurement of cardiac output appears to have now been settled by our recent article. Dr McIntyre has briefly reviewed several of the critical factors influencing pulmonary interactions with cardiac output.

La thermodilution transpulmonaire

2007

Measurement of Cardiac Output by Thermodilution

New England Journal of Medicine, 1975
THE functional assessment of myocardial performance includes a measurement of cardiac output. Such precise diagnostic information is particularly valuable in patients with cardiac disease who are u...

Single Injection Thermodilution

Anesthesiology, 1996
Background Application of the Stewart-Hamilton equation in the thermodilution technique requires flow to be constant. In patients in whom ventilation of the lungs is controlled, flow modulations may occur leading to large errors in the estimation of mean cardiac output.

Thermodilution method for measuring cardiac output

European Heart Journal, 1990
The thermodilution technique has been shown to measure cardiac output accurately. The technique violates ideal conditions for indicator dilution methods and is liable to gross errors unless certain requirements are strictly adhered to. The quantity of injectate must be accurately measured and injected rapidly.

Clinical Applications of the Transpulmonary Thermodilution Technique

2001
In recent reviews of outcome, there is considerable evidence that mortality from high-risk surgery is often close to 10%, depending on case selection and operator experience. The inclusion of emergency work will often increase this figure to 20% [1, 2].

HZV-Messung durch Thermodilution

1983
