Hamiltonian Thermodynamics [PDF]

open access: yesNelineinaya Dinamika, 2020
It is believed that thermodynamic laws are associated with random processes occurring in the system and, therefore, deterministic mechanical systems cannot be described within the framework of the thermodynamic approach. In this paper, we show that thermodynamics (or, more precisely, a thermodynamically-like description) can be constructed even for ...

Demonstration of the stabilization of solar salt at 620 C with a semi-closed configuration in a 100 kg-scale

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
Among the variety of energy storage techniques thermal energy storage (TES), based on molten salts, is already in use for the storage of heat in a gigawatt hour scale.

Descriptive thermodynamics [PDF]

open access: yesPhysica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2006
Thermodynamics (in concert with its sister discipline, statistical physics) can be regarded as a data reduction scheme based on partitioning a total system into a subsystem and a bath that weakly interact with each other. The ubiquity and applicability of the scheme chiefly derives from that of partitioning protocols in experiments and observations ...

Diffusion in multicomponent aqueous alcoholic mixtures

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
The Fick diffusion coefficient matrix of the highly associating quaternary mixture water + methanol + ethanol + 2-propanol as well as its ternary and binary subsystems is analyzed with molecular dynamics simulation techniques.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Thermocapillary central lamella recess during droplet impacts onto a heated wall

open access: yesScientific Reports
We experimentally observe a new phenomenon, the formation of a toroidal region of lower film thickness in the center of the lamella formed during high Weber number water droplet impacts onto smooth heated walls.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

A method for siting adsorption-based direct air carbon capture and storage plants for maximum CO2 removal

open access: yesCarbon Neutrality
Adsorption-based direct air carbon capture and storage (DACCS) is an emerging approach to mitigate climate change by removing CO2 from the atmosphere.

Analysis of experimental results of a Pressurized Solid Oxide Fuel Cell System simulating a Hybrid Power Plant [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
The low-carbon economy of the future needs low consumption of fossil and high quality renewable based fuels. This requires high efficiencies, good part-load performance and fuel flexibility.
