This article presents the NFDI‐MatWerk Ontology (MWO), a Basic Formal Ontology‐based framework for interoperable research data management in materials science and engineering (MSE). Covering consortium structures, research data management resources, services, and instruments, MWO enables semantic integration, Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and ...

The Thermodynamics of Confidentiality [PDF]
This work, of a foundational nature, establishes a connection between secure computation and the 2nd principle of thermodynamics. In particular we show that any deterministic computation, where the final state of the system is observable, must dissipate at least W K_B T ln(2).

A numerical model resulting from irreversible thermodynamics for describing transport processes is introduced, focusing on thermodynamic activity gradients as the actual driving force for diffusion. Implemented in CUDA C++ and using CalPhaD methods for determining the necessary activity data, the model accurately simulates interdiffusion in aluminum ...

Exergoeconomic analysis of a pumped heat electricity storage system based on a Joule/Brayton cycle
Storing electrical energy in the form of thermal energy, pumped heat electricity storage (PHES) systems are a location‐independent alternative to established storage technologies.

Violation of First Law of Thermodynamics in f(R,T) Gravity
In this Letter, we derived the first law of thermodynamics using the method proposed by Wald. Treating the entropy as Noether charge and comparing with the usual first law of thermodynamics, we obtained the expression of entropy explicitly which contains

Influence of an Argon/Silane Atmosphere on the Temperature of a Thermal Plasma
The influence of a silane‐doped argon atmosphere on the chemical composition and temperature of a thermal nontransferring argon plasma is investigated using optical emission spectroscopy. As a result of the high amount of free electrons resulting from the stepwise ionization and dissociation of the silane molecule, even a silane addition of 0.01 vol ...

Influence of Salts on the Adsorption of Lysozyme on a Mixed-Mode Resin
Mixed-mode chromatography (MMC), which combines features of ion exchange chromatography (IEC) and hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC), is an interesting method for protein separation and purification.

This paper deals with the thermodynamic properties of a phantom field in a flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe. General expressions for the temperature and entropy of a general dark-energy field with equation of state $p=\omega\rho$ are derived from

Using Planck scale oscillators in the background dark energy in a model that parallels the theory of phonons, we deduce the Planck mass, the elementary particle mass scale, the mass of the Universe and a recently discovered residual energy in the cosmic background. We also deduce the Beckenstein temperature formula for black holes. Finally we show that
