Thermogenic Adipocytes Promote M2 Macrophage Polarization through CNNM4‐Mediated Mg Secretion

open access: yesAdvanced Science
M2 macrophages promote adipose tissue thermogenesis which dissipates energy in the form of heat to combat obesity. However, the regulation of M2 macrophages by thermogenic adipocytes is unclear.

Liver Fibrosis and IRS1 rs2972146 Are Associated With Weight Loss Response After Metabolic Bariatric Surgery

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Weight loss after metabolic bariatric surgery (MBS) is heterogeneous, and the contribution of liver histology and genetic susceptibility to insufficient weight loss (IWL) or weight regain (WR) remains unclear. We assessed the prevalence of IWL and WR after MBS and their association with liver histology and metabolic ...

Akebia Saponin D Targeting Ubiquitin Carboxyl‐Terminal Hydrolase 4 Promotes Peroxisome Proliferator‐Activated Receptor Gamma Deubiquitination and Activation of Brown Adipose Tissue Thermogenesis in Obesity

open access: yesMedComm
Promoting thermogenesis in adipose tissue to enhance energy expenditure is widely regarded as a promising strategy for obesity treatment. However, the development of effective thermogenic drugs remains challenging.

Adipocyte‐specific NIK depletion enhances energy metabolism and glucose tolerance in mice

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Obesity is associated with reduced energy expenditure and increased hepatic lipid accumulation. This study reveals that loss of NIK in adipocytes stimulates FGF21‐driven expression of thermogenic genes, including UCP1, and mitochondrial uncoupled respiration.

Identification of key genes regulating brown adipose tissue thermogenesis in goat kids (Capra hircus) by using weighted gene co-expression network analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
Brown adipose tissue (BAT) is crucial for the maintenance of body temperature in newborn animals through non-shivering thermogenesis (NST). However, which kind key genes involved in the regulation of BAT thermogenesis and the internal regulation ...

Association of BCAAs/BCKAs with pancreatic steatosis in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: A cross‐sectional study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims To examine the association between branched‐chain α‐keto acids (BCKAs) and pancreatic steatosis in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM). Methods This cross‐sectional study was conducted from January 2023 to March 2025. Upper abdominal computerized tomography was performed, pancreatic volume (PV), PV index (PVI), CT attenuation of pancreas

Optimizing Larval Density for Efficient Bioconversion of Swine Manure Using Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens; Diptera: Stratiomyidae) Larvae

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Swine manure management poses significant environmental challenges, and black soldier fly, Hermetia illucens L. (Diptera: Stratiomyidae) larvae, offer a sustainable alternative by converting manure into insect biomass while reducing waste volume.

Food choice phenotypes : causes and consequences of habitual food selection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The primary aim of this thesis was to investigate the characteristics of individuals defined by their contrasting habitual selection of high fat and low fat foods. Previous studies have applied the term phenotype to this classification.

Giants in the cold: Morphological evidence for vascular heat retention in the viscera but not the skeletal muscle of the basking shark (Cetorhinus maximus)

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Fewer than 50 of the over 30,000 extant species of fishes have developed anatomical specializations facilitating endothermy in specific body regions. The plankton‐feeding basking shark (Cetorhinus maximus), traditionally classified as an ectotherm, was recently shown to have regionally endothermic traits such as centralized red muscle (RM ...
