AbstractThe present position of theory and practice concerning methods of increasing the strength of ferrous and nonferrous alloys by thermomechanical and mechanical/thermal treatment is described. Special attention is given to methods using substructural strengthening as they allow combinations of high strength and good ductility to be obtained.
