Thermoplastic Starch−Waxy Maize Starch Nanocrystals Nanocomposites
Waxy maize starch nanocrystals obtained by hydrolysis of native granules were used as a reinforcing agent in a thermoplastic waxy maize starch matrix plasticized with glycerol. Compared to our previous studies on starch nanocrystals reinforced natural rubber (NR) [Macromolecules 2005, 38, 3783; 2005, 38, 9161], the present system presents two ...

Influence of oxidized starch on the properties of thermoplastic starch
Carbohydrate Polymers, 2013Thermoplastic starch was prepared by adding oxidized starches and glycerol together into starch. The addition of oxidized starch improved the rheological properties and also increased the toughness of thermoplastic starch. Compared with TPS30, the elongation at break increased from 126.8% to 152.5% when 5wt% OS 117% was added.

Film blowing of thermoplastic starch
Carbohydrate Polymers, 2008Thermoplastic starch materials are often based on a combination of starch, glycerol and water. In the present study, two potato starch grades were employed; a native (natural) grade and an oxidised and hydroxypropylated grade of the native material, in order to produce the thermoplastic material.

Thermoplastic starch composites and blends
The central theme of this thesis was the development of thermoplastic starch materials and composites, their characterization and analysis of mechanical properties. X-ray diffraction methodology was developed for the quantitative interpretation of molecular structures within starch materials, and their effects on retrogradation properties. An iterative

Thermoplastic starch plasticized by an ionic liquid
International audienceThermoplastic starch (TPS) plasticized by 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([BMIM]CI) was obtained by melt processing. The resulting electrically conductive TPS samples were less hygroscopic than glycerol plasticized TPS samples.

AbstractThe thermoplastics processing of native starch in the presence of water is a recent development with very wide possible applications. Eventually, oil‐based polymer materials have to be replaced in many applications by sustainable, inexpensive, natural materials from renewable resources. The present contribution focuses on the injection moulding

Synthesis and properties of thermoplastic starch laurates
Carbohydrate Research, 2019Maize starch was allowed to react homogeneously in N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc)/LiCl with lauric acid activated with 4-toluenesulfonyl chloride, N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide/4-(1-pyrrolidinyl)pyridine, 1,1'-carbonyldiimidazole, and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) combined with oxalyl chloride.
