Merging thesauri: principles and evaluation
IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 1988An investigation is reported of ways to take advantage of the semantics in thesauri to improve: (1) indexing by providing descriptions of documents as sets of terms from the thesaurus; and (2) retrieval by assessing the relevance of documents to a query. Thesauri need to be updated to account for the evolution of the field they cover.

Compounds and distributional thesauri
Proceedings of the Language Resources and Evaluation Conference, 2014The building of distributional thesauri from corpora is a problem that was the focus of a significant number of articles, starting with (Grefenstette, 1994) and followed by (Lin, 1998), (Curran and Moens, 2002) or (Heylen and Peirsman, 2007). However, in all these cases, only single terms were considered. More recently, the topic of compositionality in

The first point that I would like to make about the differences between a structured and unstructured vocabulary is that the question is very much related to vocabulary size and this has certainly in the past generated a good deal of controversy in Aslib co‐ordinate indexing circles.
