Improved impact performance of marine sandwich panels using through-thickness reinforcement: Experimental results [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper presents results from a test developed to simulate the water impact (slamming) loading of sandwich boat structures. A weighted elastomer ball is dropped from increasing heights onto rigidly supported panels until damage is detected. Results

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Effects of High-Density Pulse Currents on the Solidification Structures of Cu-SiCp/AZ91D Composites

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2019
In this study, Cu-SiCp/AZ91D composites were prepared with high-density pulse currents. The wettability between SiCp and matrix during solidification was improved by coating 0.095-μm thick copper film on the surface of SiCp.

Effect of Original Layer Thicknesses on the Interface Bonding and Mechanical Properties of Ti-Al Laminate Composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
It is of great significance in high-temperature aeroengine applications for large-surface-area TiAl laminate composites to be fabricated into Ti-Al3Ti parts by plastic forming and subsequent vacuum hot pressing.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Improved Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Properties of MWCNT–PMMA Composites Using Layered Structures

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2009
Electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness (SE) of multi-walled carbon nanotubes–polymethyl methacrylate (MWCNT–PMMA) composites prepared by two different techniques was measured. EMI SE up to 40 dB in the frequency range 8.2&#

Energy storage performance and thermal stability of BNT-SBT with artificially modulated nano-grains via aerosol deposition method

open access: yesJournal of Asian Ceramic Societies, 2022
With the development of electrical industry, demand for a ceramic-based capacitor with high energy storage density has been increased gradually. The efficiency considered as a key factor of energy storage density is sensitive to temperature change.
