Association of Thigh Muscle Mass with Insulin Resistance and Incident Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Japanese Americans

open access: yesDiabetes & Metabolism Journal, 2018
Background Skeletal muscle plays a major role in glucose metabolism. We investigated the association between thigh muscle mass, insulin resistance, and incident type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) risk.

Systematic review on spheroids from adipose‐derived stem cells: Spontaneous or artefact state?

open access: yesJournal of Cellular Physiology, Volume 237, Issue 12, Page 4397-4411, December 2022., 2022
Our proposed model of spheroid isolation from liposuction fat. The tissue disintegration releases the pre‐existing spheroids as intact structures. This could be the ideal technique to culture cells in suspension because it avoids a preliminary adhesion isolation step and thus an upstream cell selection.

Glomus tumor presenting as atypical tender papule on the lower limb

open access: yesJournal of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, 2022
Glomus tumor is a benign vascular tumor derived from modified smooth muscle cells of the glomus body. Although they can develop in any part of the body, they commonly do so in the upper extremities, most frequently in the subungual region of fingers ...

Image Segmentation with Adaptive Spatial Priors from Joint Registration [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Image segmentation is a crucial but challenging task that has many applications. In medical imaging for instance, intensity inhomogeneity and noise are common. In thigh muscle images, different muscles are closed packed together and there are often no clear boundaries between them.

Probability of Target Attainment Analyses to Inform Ceftolozane/Tazobactam Dosing Regimens for Patients With Hospital‐Acquired or Ventilator‐Associated Bacterial Pneumonia and End‐Stage Renal Disease Receiving Intermittent Hemodialysis

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 63, Issue 2, Page 166-171, February 2023., 2023
Abstract ASPECT‐NP, a phase 3 trial of ceftolozane/tazobactam in hospital‐acquired/ventilator‐associated bacterial pneumonia (HABP/VABP), excluded patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD). A modeling/simulation approach was undertaken to inform optimal dosing in this population, using previously developed ceftolozane and tazobactam population ...

Semi-supervised object detection based on single-stage detector for thighbone fracture localization [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
The thighbone is the largest bone supporting the lower body. If the thighbone fracture is not treated in time, it will lead to lifelong inability to walk. Correct diagnosis of thighbone disease is very important in orthopedic medicine. Deep learning is promoting the development of fracture detection technology.

Twelve‐month change in quantitative MRI calf muscle fat fraction in CMT1A predicts clinical change over 4 years

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective We measured clinical and quantitative MRI outcome measures in CMT1A to assess long‐term responsiveness, establish longitudinal validity and assess MRI as a bridging biomarker. Methods Twenty patients with CMT1A and 20 matched controls underwent MRI, myometry and clinical assessments up to four times over mean 4‐year follow‐up ...
