Synthetic cells are engineered herein to respond to an external chemical messenger by the activation of intracellular catalysis. The chemical messenger molecules are catalytically generated by an extracellular enzyme or a mineral surface, whereas the intracellular catalysis emerges via direct enzyme activation or via protein refolding.

Modeling of gas sample behavior in gas chromatography column [PDF]
The equilibrium-dispersive model of the linear GC (gas chromatography) was derived using both assumptions and the method of its derivation different from the known in literature. It was concluded that this model is a specific case of the Fokker-Planck equation for diffusion with drift.

High‐Throughput Microfluidic‐Mediated Assembly of Layer‐By‐Layer Nanoparticles
The layer‐by‐layer (LbL) assembly of polymer films on nanoparticle (NP) surfaces is a promising technique for targeted drug delivery. Despite its success in preclinical mouse models, a current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) compliant, clinical‐scale production method has been lacking.

A solution‐processed distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) film, integrated via block copolymer (BCP) self‐assembly, enhances photon recycling in BiVO4 photoanodes for improved photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance. By tuning lamellar structures using lactic acid and cross‐linking density, the DBR film optimally shifts working wavelengths, boosting ...

Thin-layer chromatography as a method of control furan compounds in transformer oil
Thin-layer chromatography is one of the most common methods for the determination of furan derivatives in transformer oils. The article suggested improvement in the method by the use of thin-layer plates based on zeolite materials and a variety solvents ...

Internally catalyzed siloxane dynamic chemistry is demonstrated resulting from amides covalently linked through alkyl chains to siloxanes. The alkyl length in the siloxane‐containing monomer tunes the network cross‐link density. Siloxane exchange dynamics are faster with increasing cross‐link density, because associative exchange is second order in ...

Oxalate-silica gel thin-layer system for free 2-hydroxy fatty acids and for fatty acyl coenzyme A
The 2-hydroxy fatty acids tend to yield streaks in thin-layer chromatography on silica gel plates. If potassium oxalate is included with binder-free silica gel, good spots are obtained.

Mars Spectrometry 2: Gas Chromatography -- Second place solution [PDF]
The Mars Spectrometry 2: Gas Chromatography challenge was sponsored by NASA and run on the DrivenData competition platform in 2022. This report describes the solution which achieved the second-best score on the competition's test dataset. The solution utilized two-dimensional, image-like representations of the competition's chromatography data samples.
