The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Design thinking capability model: A management framework to support design thinking implementation for product development

open access: yes, 2019
Design thinking is lauded to reduce cost and redesign work in the new product development process and shorten lead time to development. Because of that, researchers are investigating how to use using design thinking as an organisational resource to ...

To Think or Not to Think

open access: yesCliopsy, 2011

Quadruple Thinking: Creative Thinking

open access: yesProcedia - Social and Behavioral Sciences, 2011
AbstractIn this study, creative thinking from quadruple thinking (critical, creative, caring and hopeful thinking ways) is discussed. It is given the etymology of the term, history of creativity thought, its dimensions and the supporting thinking ways. Besides, the creative thinking is compared with uncreative thinking.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Situated Design Thinking

open access: yes, 2022
Design thinking affect us humans in different ways every day. It is a creative approach that builds on design methods and can be implemented for anything from visuals, objects, services, systems, and environment to solve complex problems.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
