Removal of organo-sulphur odour compounds by Thiobacillus novellus SRM, sulphur-oxidizing microorganisms

open access: yes, 1999
The microorganism was isolated from sewage and characterized as Thiobacillus novellus SRM. The optimal pH and temperature for cell growth were pH 7.0 and 30°C, respectively. The content of G and C of the DNA was 67.2%.

Protein composition of the carboxysomes of Thiobacillus neapolitanus

open access: yesArchives of Microbiology, 1986
For purifying carboxysomes of Thiobacillus neapolitanus an isolation procedure was developed which resulted in carboxysomes free from whole cells, protoplasts and cell fragments. These purified carboxysomes are composed of 8 proteins and at the most of 13 polypeptides.

Factors Influencing Degradation of Mercaptans by Thiobacillus thioparus TK-m (1)

open access: yesJournal of Applied Sciences and Environmental Management, 2010
Degradation of methylmercaptans by Thiobacillus thioparus TK-m was influenced by pH of the reaction medium. Ratios of headspace concentrations in empty vials and those of acidified buffer solutions were less than 1.0. 95% of the H2S was in headspace with

on the Permeability of Thiobacillus Neapolitan Us to Thiosulphate [PDF]

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Biological Sciences, 1965
Freshly prepared cells of T. neapolitanus had an effective thiosulphate-impermeable volume of 2·21 ml/g dry weight; on treatment of the bacteria with n-butanol this value fell to O· 86 ml/g dry weight. T. neapolitanus catalysed an exchange of sulphur between sulphite and the inner-sulphur group of thiosulphate although the bacteria appeared to be ...

Synergism effect of Thiobacillus Thiooxidans and Thiobacillus Ferrooxidans on the bio-etching

open access: yes, 2010
The synergism effect of Thiobacillus ferrooxidans(T.f) and Thiobacillus thiooxidans(T.t) on bio-etching metal material was studied. The rates of bio-etching copper, tin bronze, T10, 40Cr were analysed and compared while T.f, T.t and the mixture of T.f ...

Petrographical and mineralogical analysis of coal after biological leaching [PDF]

open access: yesActa Montanistica Slovaca, 2000
For coal utilization the sulphur content is a decisive parameter for the quality of the coal. In many countries clean coal technologies have to be applied on the basis of regulations concerning fuel quality and emission standards for dust, CO, SO2 and ...

16S/23S intergenic spacer region as a genetic marker for Thiobacillus thiooxidans and T. ferrooxidans

open access: yes, 2017
Bioleaching is the process in which insoluble metal sulfide is oxidized by specialized iron- and/or sulfur-oxidizing lithotrophic bacteria in acidic, metal-rich environments. Most of these processes are carried out by the genus Thiobacillus.
