Synthesis and reactivity of half-sandwich (η 5 -C 5 Me 5 )Ir(iii) complexes of a cyclometallated aryl phosphine ligand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Reaction of the Ir(iii) dimer [(η 5 -C 5 Me 5 )IrCl 2 ] 2 with PMeXyl 2 (Xyl = 2,6-C 6 H 3 Me 2 ), in the presence of the poorly coordinating base 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl piperidine, gives a chloride complex 1-Cl, resulting from hydrogen chloride elimination

Ethnomedicinal Uses, Phytochemistry, Pharmacological Activities, and Toxicology of the Subfamily Gomphrenoideae (Amaranthaceae): A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The subfamily Gomphrenoideae is composed of about 480 accepted species, many of which have been historically used as medicinal plants, reason why they have been studied in terms of chemical profile, biological activity, and safety. This review consolidates the advances in research on this subfamily over the past 47 years, emphasizing its ...

SOS! Hydrogen Sulfide Enhances the Flavonoid Early Warning System in Rice Plants to Cope with Thiocyanate Pollution

open access: yesToxics
The presence of thiocyanate (SCN−) in irrigation water has adverse effects on both plant growth and crop output. Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is an important gaseous signaling molecule that can alleviate SCN− stress. Flavonoids are secondary compounds produced

RWU Researchers Take Important First Step to Developing a Test to Detect Cyanide Fishing in the Marine Aquarium Trade [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We use blood tests to see if athletes are cheating, so why not use blood tests to see if fishermen cheated by using cyanide to stun and catch marine aquarium ...

Synthesis and Electrochemical Investigations of a Binuclear [FeFe]‐Hydrogenase Mimic

open access: yesChemElectroChem, EarlyView.
Herein, a [FeFe]‐hydrogenase mimic with the benzene‐1,2‐dithiol ligand bearing two amino‐groups in 4‐ and 5‐position of the ligand is reported. The complex is active in the electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction, and electrochemical investigation reveal an (E)ECEC mechanism for the hydrogen evolution reaction employing weak acids. Herein, a [FeFe]‐

(Thiocyanato-κS)tris(triphenylphosphane-κP)silver(I)

open access: yesIUCrData, 2017
In the mononuclear title complex, [Ag(SCN)(C18H15P)3], the AgI center is in a slightly distorted tetrahedral coordination geometry formed by one S atom from a terminal thiocyanate ligand and three P atoms from three triphenylphosphane ligands.

Ceric and ferrous dosimeters show precision for 50-5000 rad range [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Ammonium thiocyanate, added to the usual ferrous sulfate dosimeter solution, yielded a very stable, precise and temperature-independent system eight times as sensitive as the classical Fricke system in the 50 to 5000 rad range.

Ligand exchange reactions of [Re₂(μ-OR)₃(CO)₆]⁻(R = H, Me) with sulfur, selenium, phosphorus and nitrogen donor ligands, investigated by electrospray mass spectrometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Negative-ion electrospray mass spectrometry has been used to investigate the reactions of the dinuclear rhenium aggregates [Re₂(μ-OH)₃(CO)₆]⁻ 1 and [Re₂(μ-OMe)₃(CO)₆]⁻ 2 with a range of thiols, benzeneselenol, and some other sulfur-, phosphorus- and ...

Bulk Defects Passivation of Tin Halide Perovskite by Tin Thiocyanate

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
This study employed tin thiocyanate as a bulk passivant to minimize tin and halogen vacancies and mitigate Sn2+ oxidation. The resulting solar cells demonstrated improved power conversion efficiency (PCE), with the champion device achieving 12.22% compared to 10.2% in the reference cells.

The impact of 60 days of ‐6° head down tilt bed rest on mitochondrial content, respiration and regulators of mitochondrial dynamics

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract figure legend Reductions in skeletal muscle mitochondrial respiration following 60 days of bed rest explained by a decrease in mitochondrial content, but resulting in an increase in OPA1 and Drp1 mediated mitochondrial fission. Abstract It is unclear how skeletal muscle metabolism and mitochondrial function adapt to long duration bed rest and ...
