A Modified Cas9 Scaffold Allows Extension of the Virus‐Induced Gene Editing Technology to the Large Potyvirus Genus

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 8, Page 4933-4947, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Plant viruses are recognized as rapid and effective vectors to deliver CRISPR‐Cas reaction components into plants, a strategy termed virus‐induced gene editing (VIGE). However, VIGE is limited by the host range of the viral vectors. Development of new viral vectors to target a broad range of plant species will potentially enable the delivery ...

Mechanical Loading Induces Distinct and Shared Responses in Endothelial and Muscle Cells and Reveals Exercise‐Like Molecular Profiles

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 14, 31 July 2026.
Mechanical loading of human endothelial and muscle cells induced several distinct and shared molecular responses, many of which are commonly observed after exercise in vivo. Both cell types secreted acetate and endothelial cells increased serine synthesis from glucose.

On Oxalyl Halide Isothiocyanates Part II: Decarbonylation and Reactivity Studies

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 21, 25 July 2026.
Thermal decarbonylation of oxalyl halide isothiocyanates affords the respective carbonyl halide isothiocyanates as liquids. Crystals grown from melt allowed the elucidation of their crystal structures. Spectroscopic signatures (IR, Raman, NMR) are presented alongside reactivity studies. The reaction of oxalyl halide isothiocyanate, X(CO)2NCS (X = Cl (1)
