Divergent Access to Spirocyclic and Atropisomeric Benzimidazothiazole Derivatives by Halogen‐Promoted Intramolecular Dienamine Sulfenylation

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 3, March 2026.
A divergent halogen‐promoted intramolecular sulfenylation of dienamines enables access to two unprecedented families of benzo[4,5]imidazo[2,1‐b]thiazole. The resulting scaffolds feature distinct chiral elements, either a quaternary stereocenter in the case of spirolactones, or a stereogenic axis for heteroaryl‐alkenes, with high configurational ...

Efficient Ce(NO3)3·6H2O-Catalyzed Solvent-Free Synthesis of 3,4-Dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones

open access: yesMolecules, 2006
Cerium(III) nitrate hexahydrate efficiently catalyzes the three-component Biginelli reaction under solvent-free conditions of an aldehyde, a β-keto ester or β- diketone and urea or thiourea to afford the corresponding 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H ...

A Stepwise [4 + 3] Cycloaddition Reaction of the 1,3-Diphenyl-2-azaallyl Anion [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
The 1,3-diphenyl-2-azaallyl anion (1) undergoes [3 + 2] cycloaddition reactions with the s-cis-fixed 1,3-dienes 8-11. In contrast, 1,1,2,2,3,3-hexamethyl-4,5-bis(methylene)cyclopentane (7) reacts with 1 to give the [4 + 3] cycloadduct 13 and the linear 1,

Gold–Thiopurine and Thioguanine Platforms for Chemotherapy and Photodynamic Therapy

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 3, March 2026.
Gold(I)–thiopurine complexes bearing chromophores and phosphine or N‐heterocyclic carbene ligands were developed as multimodal chemo‐photodynamic agents. They show good stability, moderate lipophilicity, and tunable photoresponse. 6‐TG enhances dark cytotoxicity, 6‐MP improves phototoxicity, and PPh3/NBD provide the most efficient photoactivation ...

Variation in herbivore defense strategies among plant species differing in elevational distribution and the role of temperature in defense

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 6, Page 3091-3103, March 2026.
Summary Temperature influences the distribution and performance of both plants and insect herbivores. Consequently, plant–herbivore interactions are likely to vary across thermal gradients, which could affect the evolution of plant defense. Furthermore, temperature fluctuations may elicit immediate changes in defense.
