Thiopental

Abstract Thiopental is a rapid-acting barbiturate used as an induction agent for anesthesia. Its lipid solubility allows the drug to quickly cross the blood-brain barrier and exert its effects. These effects only last about 30 minutes as it also quickly distributes to other body areas where it becomes inactive.
