Propargylglycine inhibits hypotaurine/taurine synthesis and elevates cystathionine and homocysteine concentrations in primary mouse hepatocytes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Our investigation showed that hepatocytes isolated from cysteine dioxygenase knockout mice (Cdo1(−/−)) had lower levels of hypotaurine and taurine than Cdo1(+/+) hepatocytes. Interestingly, hypotaurine accumulates in cultured wild-type hepatocytes.

Transcriptome time-course analysis unravels the regulatory networks governing ratooning decline in sugarcane

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
IntroductionRatooning cultivation is the predominant production mode for sugarcane, yet ratooning decline represents a critical constraint limiting high and stable yields.

Investigating the Catalytic and the Metabolic Role of the Thiol Dioxygenase and a Sulfurtransferase in the mdo Operon from Pseudomonas aeruginosa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Mammalian cysteine dioxygenase (CDO) is a mononuclear iron containing enzyme that belongs to the cupin superfamily. CDO catalyzes the oxidation of cysteine to cysteine sulfinic acid.

Metabolic and vascular effects of thiosulfate sulfurtransferase deletion

open access: yes, 2018
Hydrogen sulfide (H2S), is a gasotransmitter with several key roles in metabolism and vascular function. The effects of H2S are dependent on concentration and target organ. For example, increased H2S concentrations impair liver metabolic function but protect against vascular dysfunction and atherosclerosis.
