Effect of thiram on chick chondrocytes in culture
Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, 1995The effect of thiram, a fungicide that increases the incidence of tibial dyschondroplasia (TD) in poultry, was studied in vitro using growth plate chondrocyte culture. Thiram caused a significant reduction in alkaline phosphatase, acid phosphatase, and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activities at concentrations of 5 microM and above.

Mutagenic effects of thiram in mammalian somatic cells
Food and Chemical Toxicology, 1985The dimethylthiocarbamate fungicide thiram has been found to be a potent and direct inducer of point mutations at the hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyl transferase (HGPRT) locus in Chinese hamster cells in vitro. It also increased the incidence of micronuclei in polychromatic erythrocytes in the bone marrow of mice given a single ip dose of 100 mg/kg.
