Semi‐Continuous Versus Continuous Suturing Techniques in Bronchial Anastomosis Following da Vinci Robotic‐Assisted Sleeve Lobectomy

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 17, Issue 3, February 2026.
Semi‐continuous suturing significantly reduces bronchial anastomosis time during robotic sleeve lobectomy compared to continuous suturing, without increasing complication rates, offering a safer and more efficient technical option for bronchial reconstruction.

Phenotype characterization of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction in medical device and surgical trials

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 6, Page 3878-3898, December 2025.
This systematic review identified 24 clinical trials of medical device and surgical interventions for HFpEF, with 16 demonstrating at least safety and feasibility, but little evidence of long‐term benefit. Phenotype‐based responses suggest that certain interventions may benefit specific HFpEF subgroups, yet most trials suffered from heterogeneous ...

Effects of Different Concentrations of Inhaled Oxygen on Lung Collapse and Oxidative Stress in Patients With One Lung Ventilation, a Single‐Center Prospective, Double‐Blinded, Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 8, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background During thoracoscopic surgery, the anestheologist assure an adequate oxygen supply to the body, but at the same time, to improve the surgical field by completely collapsing the lung on the surgical side. However, incomplete lung collapse remains problematic.

Comparison of Subxiphoid and Lateral Intercostal Thoracoscopic Surgery for Anterior Mediastinal Tumors: A Propensity Score‐Matched Analysis

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 16, Issue 22, November 2025.
In a matched study of 417 patients per group, LIATS for anterior mediastinal tumors resection had a significantly shorter operative time than SATS (75 ± 34 vs. 112 ± 43 min; p < 0.001), with no difference in postoperative pain. ABSTRACT Objective This study aimed to evaluate the short‐term clinical outcomes of subxiphoid approach thoracoscopic surgery (

Evaluation of a chest wall lift technique in feline cadaveric specimens

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, Volume 54, Issue 8, Page 1599-1607, November 2025.
Abstract Objective To evaluate the effect of a simple chest wall‐lifting technique on thoracic volumes in cats. Study design Cadaveric study. Animals Feline cadavers (n = 8). Methods Animals underwent thoracic computed tomography (CT) scans after each treatment: in lateral recumbency, (1) no lift and (2) intercostal space lift, and in dorsal recumbency,

Unveiling Macrophage Content as a Predictive Biomarker for Intraoperative ICG Imaging Efficacy in Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 39, October 20, 2025.
Indocyanine Green (ICG)‐guided lung cancer surgery efficacy varies significantly among patients. This study identifies tumor macrophage content as a predictive biomarker. Macrophages are primary ICG reservoirs, storing seven‐fold more ICG than cancer cells.

Thoracoscopic diaphragm plication [PDF]

open access: yesInteractive CardioVascular and Thoracic Surgery, 2015
Diaphragm plication is a relatively common operation in thoracic surgery and can be a major benefit to patients who have suffered phrenic nerve injury and who are left short of breath as a result [1]. With the advent of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) many surgeons have attempted diaphragm plication endoscopically.

Robot-assisted thoracoscopic esophagectomy versus thoracoscopic esophagectomy

open access: yes, 2023
Abstract Background The gold standard for treating resectable esophageal cancer is esophagectomy. Robot-assisted thoracoscopic esophagectomy (RATE) is a technique that bridges the gap between open esophagectomy and minimally invasive surgery, although there is little evidence to support its superiority over traditional thoracoscopic ...
