Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

Abstract Background and purpose For postoperative breast cancer patients, deformable image registration (DIR) is challenged due to the large deformations and non‐correspondence caused by tumor resection and clip insertion. To deal with it, three metrics (fiducial‐, region‐, and intensity‐based) were jointly used in DIR algorithm for improved accuracy ...

On three-dimensional misorientation spaces [PDF]
Determining the local orientation of crystals in engineering and geological materials has become routine with the advent of modern crystallographic mapping techniques. These techniques enable many thousands of orientation measurements to be made, directing attention towards how such orientation data are best studied.

Interaction extracellular vesicles (iEVs) are hybrid vesicles formed through host‐pathogen communication. They facilitate immune evasion, transfer pathogens' molecules, increase host cell uptake, and enhance virulence. This Perspective article illustrates the multifunctional roles of iEVs and highlights their emerging relevance in infection dynamics ...

Abstract Purpose MRI is increasingly used for brain and head and neck radiotherapy treatment planning due to its superior soft tissue contrast. Flexible array coils can be arranged to encompass treatment immobilization devices, which do not fit in diagnostic head/neck coils. Selecting a flexible coil arrangement to replace a diagnostic coil should rely

The biplot of a two-way table is discussed as a diagnostic tool for investigating bilinear models with additive terms for rows and columns and at least one multiplicative term. The full biplot is three dimensional with the points representing row effects concentrated is a plane orthogonal to another plane containing the points representing the column ...

We achieved cytoplasmic delivery of non‐cell‐penetrating IgGs by grafting a single functional complementarity‐determining region 1 (CDR1) from the light chain variable region (VL) of the cell‐internalizable 3D8 antibody. The engineered IgG acquired cell‐penetrating ability while maintaining antigen affinity, highlighting CDR1 grafting as a promising ...

Abstract Purpose Treatment planning for head‐and‐neck (H&N) cancer, in particular oropharynx, nasopharynx, and paranasal sinus cases, at our center requires noncoplanar proton beams due to the complexity of the anatomy and target location. Targeting accuracy for all beams is carefully evaluated by using image guidance before delivering proton beam ...

Comparison of algorithms for converting 3D objects into rolls, using a spiral coordinate system
The definition of a point’s location in volume by Cartesian, spherical and cylindrical coordinate systems requires three dimensions (x, y, z), (r, θ, ϕ) and (ρ, ϕ, z) accordingly.

Three Dimensional Spheroid Co-culture Invasion Assay
The assay was developed to investigate the impact of stromal cells of different types (in our case breast cancer associated fibroblasts stably manipulated to modify expression of genes of interest) on the invasive capacity of epithelial cancer cells (in ...
